  • If anybody knows where to get the lyrics to this song, please let me know! (I can't type this fast) :-P

  • @bbbartolo have you found the lyrics yet?

  • @faey06 nope! I could piece together all the tribes in the first verse, but not the second. :-/

  • @faey06 Some of the lyrics (i.e., the tribe names) are in another You Tube video featuring this song. The person who posted it is: QueenLucyThe2nd

  • Abenaki woman and proud! 100% native!

  • @abenakigirl1961 Akwesasne Kahnawake from the Adirondack, here

  • @Eagle027 I play the bodhran.... very similar to the native drum, just played differently....I would love to attend one of the Pow Wows that you have & just watch your drummers. How would they react? Please excuse me asking this, but I am originally from England so I just don't know :(

  • Love how Buffy always embraced her heritage. In all ways she stood proud and true. She never allowed herself to be shuffled along by anyone elses standards. Bless her for her courage.

  • Thank you for helping open up a new world to me! Kevin

  • She is so beautiful. I am proud to have a part native bloodline.

My mom came from Choctaw/Creek heritage.Dad was Scot - Irish.

My Comanche friend calls me Irish NDN :)

  • I love this song!!! Lately, I've been feeling prouder and prouder of my Navajo/Apache heritage ^-^ But this song just makes me burst with pride :D

Can anybody help me transcribing the lyrics? :( I'm having trouble... after she says "Mohawk," I can't understand what tribe she says. Help, please?

  • I heard this when I was a teenager in rural Kentucky when everyone else was listening to the mostly awful top 10 mess. I won a few converts among friends who heard her through my BSM collection. Buffy's the best. Hey, folks, check out her more recent video No No Keshagesh. The music, video, and the beautiful First Nations dancers show that Buffy is still delivering. Buffy walks the "old way, way, way." Peace!

  • Buffy is the best!!

  • Love the music, love Buffy, what a great spokeswoman for the true Americans!

  • i remember dancing to this song in the livingroom with my mama (rip) when i was younger and i was too short to reach up to her waist, so she would pick me up and put me on the end table and we'd always insert "blackfoot" somewhere in there.

    man, i LOVE being ndn

  • My grandmother died 10 years ago, and I still talk to her (don't want to be rude ya know LOL). My grandmother liked Buffy because I loved her. I bet you still dance with your mother! African-Americans have Tina Turner, and Native-Americans (First Nations?) have Buffy Sainte-Marie. You should be proud.

  • Buffy Sainte-Marie is a treasure.

  • Kwai! I think this song is wonderful! My heart dances to this music!

  • YES they are beautiful I have loved her since I could sing

  • I love this song! It makes my heart sing.

    Eventhough I'm "part" Wamanoag,

    I know I'm a WHOLE humanbeing when I hear

Buffy sing! A strong Native Woman she is,

    like all native women!

  • Buffy Sainte-Marie is just so amazing! I love her voice! Thanks for the video!

  • I love her profile. She is rightly proud of her nose and bone structure. The way she sings the lyrics is like a chant, to this song, combining the syllables in a string with the rythym like her tongue and vocal chords are resonating synchronous drums.

  • First, I love your youtube name. Second, I love your observations that are right on point. The first time I saw her was on a music show in the mid70's where she sang "Sweet Little Vera," wearing a buckskin halter and short skirt, head tilted back and up--what a performance. Best!

  • One of absolute favorites from her 1972(year I was born)album "Moonshot."-definitely in my top 10 favorite albums along with "Illuminations" c. 1969. Thanks for posting Squid101.

  • Awesome..Thanks

  • She's a beautiful Aboriginal Woman. I luv her!

  • here a half inuit.always loved her music and strong voise.just found this today, thanks for this nice nice music...

  • I saw her sing this before it came out on Moonshot(Perfect LP) and she banged the little richard fuck out that piano! The whole concert mesmerized that Iowa audience. Hippie Goddess.

  • I was under the impression that youtube is a community rather than a conscious entity supporting copyright laws.

  • Oh now I see... "youtiube" is the username of someone posting a brief, flaming opinion, not a mispelling of "youtube". Jeeze, you say the poster of this vid has no originality, what about "youtiube" ?

  • Sweet hippie rock!

  • An interesting description! It made me chuckle anyway. You have invented a new genre, and now we just have to decide what goes in it. Buffy's "She Wanted to be a Ballerina", is one obvious song.

  • Ballerina IS a great one to post!!! hint hint

  • great song and wonderful singer. loved all the photo shots.. Buffy makes us proud!

  • Awesome Video! Great Job, Squid. Buffy Rocks!

  • Thank you. We are always delighted to hear from the more intelligent and thoughful of those on YouTube.

  • Didn't know this song, have stuck with the 'Coincidence and likely...' for the past ten years? really love it. We desperately need voices like hers these days. Thank you for posting the video!

  • @youtiube fuck you, have u even listen to the lyrics?!
