  • Yeah whatever stop animal testing. But before that, stop rodent pest control. Before that, stop animals from naturally killing each other. Before that, stop human babies from being aborted. Before that, stop terrorist from killing other humans using religion as an excuse. Protesting on experimentation before any of these is an excuse to get angry at something, and it is in no way proactive.

  • I was shocked to hear Peter Singer agree with Tipu Aziz in such a way, that seemingly went against everything he had stated in earlier writings.

  • @vindaloonarnar Well he's not a fundamentalist he's more into the moral truth rather than animal rights initially but the moral truth often leads to the realization that humans exploitation of animals in the majority of cases is not justifiable but is some it is justifiable and it does seem that 100s of monkeys for 1000s of humans is justifiable if its the only option, I do believe humans and other animals matter equally but 100 for 1000 is not equal, but of course its open to debate

  • i think that in some cases it can be possible to help

people that really need it , like the boy , but the animals

cant be used to other thinks such as experiments with

animals to develop comestics or to make clothes etc.

  • sick fucking bastards hope they sleep with one eye open. they should test stuff on the worst criminals. far more accurate than a baby rabbitt.

  • I wonder how Shaun is now... May God bless him and his family.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I just ate a big fat chicken leg. yummmmy, and I am drinking a very nice, tall glass of whole milk! YUmmmmmmmmmyyyyyy

  • fucking oxford students i think not to long and they will start toget hurt id love to smash that four eyed cunt and his followers WATCH YOUR BACK CUNT!

  • ahhhh that man is fucking sick, how the fuck can he do that to monkeys, they should be running around free in the wild and jumping off trees not being locked in cages and forced to sit in "chairs" and touching things on a comuter screen it disturbing

  • The comments on this post are disgusting. If you want medical advancements go test on yourself or your family members. animal testing is inaccurate and outdated and costs uk taxpayers avg of over 2 billion pounds per yr due to adverse reactions, whilst this is happening share holders and the animal abusers are getting filthy rich from this. Its not rocket science animals are different from humans ,hense the reason they react differently to things. Stop animal testing it is Evil

  • @Glendale1835 human testing is evil.

  • The lead animal rights guy is an utter tool. The reaction of the crane company is golden. "eh? you what? fuck off mate will you."

  • I feel that medical animal testing is a very important thing to have. I just want to say to the people that are so opposed to animal research because they say that the animals have no choice and they have a horrible life. What about the millions of babies every year that are infected with AIDS simply by being born. We would still be dying from fevers and the flu if it were not for animal research. Animal research also goes toward creating cures for animal diseases and better medical treatments.

  • Sorry but why is when the movie goes to the butcher's opinion soft church music plays?

They did not show enough. No pain? yeha, right.

  • I happily support SPEAK campaigns. They are truely dedicated to the cause by not giving in until they reach their goal.

It's such a shame that Felix, who was such a beautiful animal, was killed without a second though by the scientists. Not all activists are terrorists. Activists who willingly would harm humans for animal rights are hypocrites. You cannot understand animals rights without understanding human rights. I'm proudly involved with the animal rights movement and will never give in

  • I would like to see a rat behaviorist or monkey behaviorist to tell us what the animals shown are probably feeling. "Felix" looks awfully upset when he opens his mouth in that frown, and "Philip" seemed pretty distressed to me, how he was flipping around..

  • they should test on humans... on their relatives

  • how can they call that a chair??

    knobs!

  • 18:30 - 18:40 made me laugh outloud.

  • Animal testing for the most part is DEAD wrong. Testing should have a screening process for approval, to see if the animals life it worth the experiment. Their pain should not be taken so lightly.

Shed the real light on testing. I don't need animals to go through sadist tortured to let me know my mascara, hair shampoo, detergent and candy are ok for me.

Maybe one day they will find a cure for the greatest evil within people - the apathy of humanes

  • There is a screening process - It's called the ethics committees which ensure that the potential benefit to humans outweighs the expected costs to animals (in terms of pain).

Cosmetic testing is BANNED in the UK, it has been for nearly 10 years.

  • That is awsome that cosmetic testing is banned in the UK.

MY only concern is HLS is in the UK and undercover people show them punching 4 month old beagles in the face.

I'm not against finding cures. But to me it's not about the animlas death but the aganizing torture they go through. I don't think any species has a moral right to do that to another.

Good to hear there's an ethics committee. Just don't know how much they turn their heads to things. Undercover videos reveal a lot.

  • Did you not read the news regarding Monkey Rats & Me? "The programme included strong claims by scientists about the efficacy of animal experimentation which were not challenged."...."the programme will not be repeated in its present form."

This video is in breach of the code of conduct by the BBC, far from your claims made in the description.

Summary: This was a con show, you were conned!

    bbc . co . uk/complaints/text/ecu_aprjun07.html#page_4

  • Why didn't they cut that kids hair?

  • Your argument doesn't make sense at all. Pro-Test obviously will gain the support of doctors and scientists because it supports what these scientists do and stands up for them, giving the scientists a voice. I actually think that Broughton is admirable because of his dedication towards the cause, though I definitely don't agree with his methods.

  • Also.... did you hear that guy shouting at the builder to "go work in MacDonald's" What animal rights activist in their right mind would suggest that? Just goes to show that these people are just ignorant and have nothing better to do than shout at builders trying to earn a living.

  • It's called irony.

  • Yeah, a kid who spites legitimate protesters is a "great man". Tipu Azis, who uses your tax money to torture innocent beings for profit, is a saint.

  • I said the surgeon was a great man not that pro test kid. You would rather side though with an idiotic man who shouts at builders and get arrested to get his point across. Rather than an educated brain surgeon who saves lives. What are the alternatives being suggested other than animal testing? None. Because the people protesting it know absolutely nothing about it. They have seen some gory pictures and looked no further. I trust a brain surgeon over a self righteous ill informed ex con any day.

  • This particular comment was not directed at you.

Protesters have a tendency to make fools of themselves, from what I've observed. However, I disagree that they don't know what they're talking about. Before you claim that, I suggest you look into their arguments.. they extend far beyond the "puppy killer" slur.

  • "The Office of Technology Assessment estimates that 17-23 MILLION animals are used in the United States for research EVERY YEAR."

    this from fbresearch dotorg

How many years would it take for that to add up to a billion??

  • By the way, the BBC has stated that they will never broadcast this documentary again. It was judged as being biased toward the pro vivisection side.

  • I would quite like to hear their opinion of animal testing if they or anyone they know and love ever need a transplant or blood transfusion to save their lives. Its all very well and good shouting at builders slashing tires and spraying slogans everywhere but are they actually willing to refuse treatment and die because of their beliefs? I sincerely doubt it. Animal cruelty is wrong but to hold back the advancement of medical science to save a few animals is absolutely absurd.

  • First, it's not a few animals, it's billions, and there is a huge moral issue there, but I don't really think you believe in fairness, so we'll skip that argument.

I would not advocate "animal research" as a means for saving my life, but to refuse something because it was tested on animals would be irrational.. it doesn't help the animals who were tested on, if anything it only makes their sacrifice even more of a tragic waste.

  • Billions? I don't think so. Show me some properly sourced figures that back your claims. I hear a lot of screaming and shouting demanding that animal testing stop but I hear no solutions or alternatives being offered just a lot of self righteous ill informed people getting angry about something they know nothing about.

  • Don't get me wrong I'm all for animals being treated properly but you have to keep things in perspective. I'm a veggie. I don't eat meat because I feel the ways animals are produced for food is unnecessary. Medical research though is very important to the survival and advancement of the human race. until these people have an alternative they should shut the fuck up and stop holding back the likes of brilliant people like the brain surgeon in this video.

  • If you were one of those monkeys, your opinion would quickly change. It wouldn't take a billion, it would only take yourself. I don't know what else to say about that.

Watch the series in my playlist for answers to some of your concerns.

  • If you love animals you have to hate the vivisectionist. All in all i prefer animals to people. If these visisectionists are so sure these experiments are necessary (bullshit) then they should forfeit they're own life for the experiment in the name of science.

This should have been outlawed along with cock fighting and dog fighting.

  • Not true. I love animals but I definitely do not hate vivisectionists. Many of them are working towards bettering our society, and a lot of their discoveries have allowed us to live the way we do. The vivisectionists that test on animals for make-up and products like that is a different story.

  • All Animal experiment should be STOP NOW!

And Peter Singer is no more a part of the Animal Liberation movement.

  • Fuck pro test.

  • animal experiments have no, i repeat no, benefit to humans what so ever..

think about it....why in the hell would a different species be the same as us??????????

monkeys can not get parkinsons its not a desease monkeys can get...so WHY ARE THEY TRYING TO GIVE MONKEYS PARKINSONS!!!!!!!

nothing beneficial comes from animal experimintation.

  • What about erm... antibiotics, anaesthetics, polio vaccine, organ transplants, limb transplants, anticancer drugs, antiviral drugs, the list goes on. These were all developed through animal models, if you don't think these have any benefit to humans then i trust you (or any SPEAK supporter) won't use any if you get sick. Oh wait...

  • They were tested on, but the results were still, get this, unpredictable. The first humans to use it were the real test subjects.

  • Lol, what the crap, I'm not in the video at all, I didn't make it, I don't even live in England(where this video takes place), so how on earth do you know what I'm doing. I'm a neuroscience student and I work as a check out chick for a living, thanks!

All I did was upload this video (creative commons, so I can) to promote some discussion on the issue not so people throw personal attacks my way... well, welcome to the internets.

  • I have a mental disorder, and I don't see what that has anything to do with this video, and I don't see why you need to point it out in that way. Calling us nutters just adds to the stigma and stops people seeking help.

and you, 'betterflybabe666', perhaps you should do some education on urself as there is something clearly wrong with your stigma!!

  • Sorry, but the video does not appear; it seems there is a problem with the link.

  • tipu aziz sadistic animals cruelty is NOT DEMOCRACY,

you fucking moron!!!Who to hell gave you right to tortureing innocent God's creaTURE?!!Who are you ?you piece of shit!!!!!!!!!

  • Ah, creatures, not human beings. So its all right. Because it will help to advance the well being of all of us humans.

  • Yes well I dont see your proof-and my proof comes from doctors, and enlightned people such as Marius Maxwell-a leading proffersor. If you want to see some of these facts why dont you watch 'Behind the mask' a very interesting doc

  • Proof? New Scientist, 25th January, 2005 - "Up to 140,000 heart attacks linked to Vioxx". Has all the facts I mentioned. The 5,000 animals needed is a simple calculation based on confidence intervals.

Marius Maxwell is a discredited professor, whereas 92% of GP's think animal research has been important, and 88% think we should do safety tests on animals - September 2006 poll

  • My mistake - 96% of GP's agree that animal research has "made an important contribution to many advances in medicine". Not 92%. The other 4% answered "don't know" (as opposed to disagreeing).

  • I was actually replying to fyourspace-not you. Marius Maxwell has made some huge achivements. A lot of doctors disagree with animal testing-as I said before watch behind the mask to get some of Americas top surgeons opinions.

  • A very small number on the scale of things.

  • Speciesism involves assigning different values or rights to beings on the basis of their species membership. The term was coined by Richard D. Ryder in 1973 and is used to denote prejudice similar in kind to sexism and racism.

  • Except it's not similar to racism, since the specie gap is much bigger. Those of different races are considerably more similar is mental ability and physiological/neurological makeup, than those of a different specie.

Adding "ism" doesn't make it bad. Is putting your family over others (familiy-ism) a bad thing? Most would say no!

  • I see where you're coming from but I think the word is a moral principle to help us see out of the box and most importantly the pain and suffering aspect.

I think its important to recognize that all animals are capable of suffering pain, and that pain is of equal moral worth to all sentient creatures.

So, the general principle of equality within the term Speciesism, in relation to pain, must be extended to all animals.

  • Interesting - although some people might grant sapience to animals, few people would attribute sentience to them.

Most animals feel remarkably little, if any, pain during experimentation. Anaesthetics must be administered unless a special license is applied for (or the experiment involves no pain).

  • I step on my cats tail by accident the other day-she screamed very very loud, somehow I think animals feel great levels of pain-wow your such an airhead-Einstein himself said that animal testing should be a thing of the past-and that was some time ago

  • Primates are so beautiful, capable of malice and jealousy just as we are, they are so much like us. Stop testing on animals you f*ckers! Bio medical Scientists are like GPS ,they do what the hell they want and nobody in power really questions it.

  • erm, so you think the human race should all die (including yourself) of deseises that animal testing can easily cure?

  • Thats quite funny , I love getting pms and ims from animal rights extremists its hilarius like last week i had one telling me i should be agenst animal testing because i have a moby cd in my collection ?

Come on this from someone who uses the very benifits of animal testing to stay alve themselves , And no they cant do whatever they want their work comes under the animal welfare laws

  • "The assumption that animals are without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality." -Arthur Schopenhauer

  • this guy needs to get laid, living just for annoying people

  • So you seem to be able to tell somebody is a virgin just by looking at them?

  • i never said he was a virgin, i am saying that he needs to get laid and stop annoying people who are trying to earn a living ................. idiot

  • Earn a living fair enough-but you wouldnt support a hitman-why support animal testers-8& of all medical advancement comes from animal testing-11million is spent on average year for animal tests, but only 1milion is spent on alternative tests-and we wonder why were still dying of cancer-maybe its because animals arent one bit like us-idiot

  • I don't know where you get your figures from, but what about the £300 million per year that pharmaseuticals spend on the development and use of alternatives to animal research.

You wonder why we're still dying of cancer, it's because we simply haven't found a cure yet. We've made many treatments. However animals seems similar enough to us to help us cure polio, treat diabetes, treat childhood leukaemia, treat pain, cure TB .... the list goes on.

  • Thats not actually true, £300 million a year is not spent on alterntives-I should know as I work in the alternative medicine field. So no answer about animals feeling pain-well fair enough, I guess you dont have a corner to stand up on. Well tell you what-why don't we elighten all these people with the miracle of Viroxx, a drug that proved to be cinically fine on animals, but killed some of the human patients, whilst leaving others crippled for life.

  • Richard Ley of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry told The Scientist, "The pharmaceutical industry in the UK alone spends more than £300 million [$477 million] per year on developing and using alternatives to animals. We have seen big reductions in the amount of animals used, but testing on animals will undoubtedly need to continue for many years."

    from "The Scientist" magazine.

The figure can be found in many other places

  • You want to enlighten people about Vioxx, a drug which has exactly the same affect on animals as it does humans. A drug tested safe in both animals and humans. Why? Because side affects occu in around 1 in 400, fatality in 1 in 1400 ... you would need to test tens of thousands of animals to see this affect ... if anything not enough animal research was done.

  • What-I know for a fact 7 people we're tested with viroxx and every single one of them were ill, some died-I have the newspaper article, and if you look it up you might see Im right.

  • 80 million prescriptions for Vioxx were issued. The FDA estimated, at most, 139,000 heart attacks, 55,600 which were fatal -- i.e. 1in1400 were fatal. Side effects this rare are almost impossible to detect in trials. The number of animals used in trials was only a few hundred for ethical reasons. This made it impossible to detect a side effect appearing in every 1in400 cases. To detect such a rare side effect would require the use of at least 5,000 animals to have statistically significant data.

  • The only reason they test on animals these days is because they need data incase they get taken to court.

I mean flash the cleaner gets tested on monkeys and beagles-yeah because we all know that you need to show cleaners down dogs throats to check that there ok for us! I mean if you drink 500mls of flash you could possibly die, or need your stomach pumped-testing changed nothing

  • The fact is all the produce we have from vivisection has only proved partially effective-and often misleading. The reason we're still dying of cancer is because the cure is under our nose-its not about pills-its about lifestyle.

  • Only partially effective? Name me the last time someone in your coutnry got Polio? TB is nolonger a fatal disease. We can carry out heart transplants and blood transfusions - thanks to animal research.

Some of cancer is about lifestyle, not all, some peopel who smoke 40 per day get lung cancer, some don't. Some people who never smoke and never go near smokers get lung cancers - many more don't. There is no guarenteed lifestyle to avoid cancer.

  • No-but the rate of cancer that is getting higher and higher within our nation proves that much of it is lifestyle. Binge drinking, mobile phones, microwaves, food substitutes. All the disease you name-I personally believe could have been cured without animal testing. Considering our bodies are not even the same. As for surgery-many doctors agree that practicing on animls for the real thing can be very confusing-as they dont have the same body structure as us.

  • Excellent video. Kiki sat part II out, but I liked it a lot!

  • terrorists!

  • LOL animal rights extremists are pathetic

  • Death to Amimal Rights Extreemists

  • I Like You ^_^
