i saw these guys play on a boat on the Mississippi river with a band called High Dependency Unit from Australia - it was awesome like you've never witnessed awesome
I like it! They have the ability to experiment with repatitative sound, old and new comes together in this band. the repatitive meets te interactivel I like the drummer!!!!!
These guys are great, except it's hard to take them seriously because that guy has that italian greyhound he loves so much. Not that loving a dog is a bad thing, but he REALLY loves that tiny dog, but makes music that's supposed to be all badass, just feels weird.
you know its sad all these negative comments. Boring? i mean come on shellac sells records, do you? shellac sold tickets, did you? narrow minded people disrespect something pure and original as shellac, goes the same for anything with steve albini's name on it. get a life mofo's and maybe a sucessful career such as his....................... then post your very boring comments.

Meh... this sucks compared to At Action Park. They've been steadily going downhill... I don't even bother to buy their shit anymore. I'd rather listen to Christian rock. Also, John Peel was kind of an asshole. He favored candy-ass pop shit and gave real musicians like the folks in Henry Cow nothing but the cold shoulder. Sir Richard Branson also did this same shit -- fucking Henry Cow on studio bills and enabling Oldfield to rip off Magma. Peel even bought into Oxes... shit taste... nuf said...
if it sucks so much, why continue to click on other videos of them and post how much they suck? seems a bit odd to continue spending time on something that sucks.
It's easy to find out what I like, you look at my favorites. I suppose you're critical analysis skills are not extant either. Most likely, your retort would be something about not caring enough to look at them. My reply to that is, if you're going to make the effort to personally attack me, you should at least look. I only seek the eternal form of good. Good as a timeless entity. I like this guy as a producer but his music doesn't move me at all.
@WorshipTheCreature What is good or influential about Shellac? Albini tries to convince people that obsolete, crappy and overpriced technology that he created a monopoly on (the don't even make reel-to-reel tape, but he has a stockpile of the shit) is the de facto standard for indie recording. I bet Albini couldn't even tell the difference between a CD and vinyl of his own band. I used to really dig this scene like 10 fucking years ago, but now it's just like watching a 70 year old stroke victim
This makes no sense. Seriously, your post makes no sense. I record on a reel-to-reel because I use a tube amp and the tone is warmer. But that's a gimmick right? Digital is just as good right? Whatever. I was in this scene 22 years ago when you could still find 8mm video reels for under 100 bucks...but then, I couldn't tell the difference between that and blue ray, right? Man just STFU and don't even respond. It's probably going to be just as ignorant as your original post.
@jonvanflan I think its garbage. What the hell is even going on in the video? A guy talking, a dude playing two chords repeatedly and a standing drummer who can't keep in sync with everyone else. This is a bunch of crap.
Every time I hear and/or see something by this band I am dumbfounded at how awesome the are. Shellac are like underground terrorists in these dismal times, for music and generally everything else, too.
For black humour look no further than 'Dog and Pony Show', or 'Il Porno Star'. The line "A cock like a stallion and an iron will" makes me spit milk out my nose every time..
Had the privelage of seeing them play this live last year in London. These youtube videos are great, but nothing compares to seeing them live. Their sound is awesome (in its truest sense - evoking awe), and they have a very particular stage presence. Eerie, almost.
You kind of missed. funny, they are definately a band with a black humour. Which once you tap into songs like Prayer to God and this really come into their own. Always give me a big beaming smile when I walk the dog.

I hope whatever you do in work /college or whatever doesn't need those hardcore critical/analytical skills of yours!
When you make something this good/ influential you might just get away with insulting this band.
Until then, I suggest you go back to listening to something that matches your own level of creativity. The Cheeky Girls perhaps.....
