She has clean articulation and is very accurate. Eleven years old is quite young for a performance like this. Her time is good and she has a good feel. Triple meter is communicated well. Lengthy for a young person so you have a good memory. I wish you the best stay healthy because I believe you have a great future. Don't over practice to where you hurt yourself. You should live a long time. Some people like Rubinstein did not develop until middle age.
Impressive!! You are amazing! I hope you'll grow upt o an amazing famous pianist!
One thing I noticed: shouldn't you lower your seat a bit? Your arms are pointed downwards, and shouldn't it be the other way around? Yet again, everybody has a preference, and I wouldn't dare challenging yours if this is how you like it.
great performance, a nice balance between bass and melody, but this song contains too many sharp both in bass and melody, some part are undoubtedly beautiful, but some others make me , sorry rather dizzy, you are quite right, we must love the music we play.....
Absolutely beautiful, xrb500. Your articulation and precise control of dynamics is enviable. It's obvious, your true love of good music and your dedications shows. Excellent performance!
I am doing this peice for an Eastman audition. I am 17 and can reach an 11th and I still have a very hard time with it.I have to say: you are the most amazing 11 year I've heard!
Wow!! You performed La Campanella so incredible amazing at age 11! Your learning-hard spirit would encourage many kid pianists who are under 10 try some difficult pieces like this. Thank you for posting such a wonderful demonstration video. I will repeat watching this video and start learning this piece now. Is there any trick to play this piece well?
Thank you so much for your kind words and appreciation! This is indeed a difficult piece for me. There are still a lot of areas that I need to improve. I think if there is any trick to play a piece well, it would be the "love of music" and "continuous practice". You are so talented. I am sure you can play this well and I look forward to your performance.
@xrb500 I played this piece, transcribed for cello and piano, last year. I'm also a pianist, but this is unbelievably fluid, virtuosic, and musical for an 11 year old. One of the most interesting and amazing recordings of this amazing piece on youtube. :)
wow! out of so man child prodigies playing this piece, i really really think you interpreted la campanella very nicely! technically, every note was so clear! congratulations!
You have a wonderful technique - very musical! There is so much beautiful piano music in the repertoire that you will be able to play now that you are this advanced! If you practice 3 to 4 hours a day now and get this result, you have a real gift! I fell so in love with piano music I used to practice 8 - 10 hours a day to concertize a lot - it was work but so enjoyable and worth it. It brought much joy to many audiences! You may never need to practice that much, but keep it up! Love, Di
An absolutely astonishing performance. Breathtaking. The enchanted princess captivates the world with her magic. Congratulations. Lots and lots of stars for you..
What again impresses me no end is the way in which Phoebe executes the final section (Piu Mosso) of this work. Those wide jumps are executed swiftly and most of all accurately, particularly those octave jumps in the last few bars. This proves that she has a great tactile sense of distance in her fingers. Not evey pianist with a great technique has this. However, Phoebe possesses this ability.
MusicDoLove: In Liszt's day, only a handfull of pianists could play the Liszt-Paganini Etudes and the Transcendental Etudes. Perhaps, one day you will play La Campanella or any of the others very well. I believe that you have the capacity to do it.
This is truly awesome for 11 years. The first two pages of this are tricky because of the big jumps, but she did an incredible job with it. What impressed me was the security that she demonstrated with a piece of this nature at such a tender age.
BTW, I just found that you were the phoebe in the impressive Op 64 No 2 video in yd306's channel that we saw when Charlie was learning the piece a year ago. That was very good too but the video title still says Op 34 No 2.
Hi Phoebe! This is an absolutely stunning performance. It leaves me grasping for the proper words to describe it. After listening 3 times I simply have none. *****
its incredible that these young people can play such difficult pieces, I'm amazed at how the big some of the stretches are in this piece, I can't even reach them an I'm 18
Asians have smaller hands, but can stretch more 'between' their fingers. So inside an octave their fine, maybe even better than you. I cannot reach some chords my students can, but can reach a twelfth.
Many of the Asian prodigies between 10 to 12 years have demontrated that they can span at least an octave comfortably. Many can span a ninth. In La Campanella, there are consecutive 10's in the left hand, but these are broken 10's. If a pianist cannot span a tenth or beyond, it is permissible to play in this fashion. I imagine that Phoebe can span a ninth comfortably which is a decent stretch for her age. It enables her to execute the hurdles of this piece beautifully.
Dear Phoebe, this performance might not be as assured as the previousone, but it is still quite amazing. I don't know many eleven year old pianists who dare play La Campanella.....
