The patient mentions that the voices are coming from within her head/mind. Wouldn't these be classified as pseudohallucinations rather than true auditory hallucinations? I suppose in that particular case, the 'lady' is her own conscience being perceived as the voice. I agree that she does have both 3rd and 2nd person auditory hallucinations though.

The human mind is powerful and can invent entities on its own without the help of external stimulus. It's too easy to categorize these voices as good or evil and to separate the world into skeptics and believers. Faith is itself comparable to delusion.

These voices that some of us hear can be either negative or positive feedback on how they respond to you. Positive voices can be from God and Negative voices can be the devil speaking to you. I think scizo is an obsessive compulsive disorder that is so aggressive, it makes the individual think up voices to support this disorder. That is why the voices get stronger, and it takes over the persons life.

@DaveDooval It's like your saying a person subconciously decides to get a fever when ill with the flu. I think you are getting confused with the internal obessions of ocd (which can be very severe and almost identical to reality) and hallicinations which to the person having them are exactly identical to reality. The obessions are a result of a mix of pschological issues and chemical imbalance whereas scizophrenia is biological brain disease (such as parkinsons or eplipcy)
