  • Haha - maybe it's time you gave up festivals old timer!

  • Erm, Forgive me, but this is the FERRY companies fault, not Bestival's. Its up to the ferry company to make sure they have adequate provision for the passengers going through the terminal. Yes we were treated like crap, but don't take it out on the wrong party.

  • haha get a fuckin life

  • I have one ! It has water and Toilets and everything ;) Lol - Satire is not big where you come from ?

  • what`s with the emotional music and panning long shots? i was only a few hours of waiting about......bit of an over reaction making a p.o.w documentary like.....

  • chilli out yeah.... amazing festival... been to glasto 4 times and this was far better.. nice size, well organised, cleanish toilets, nice people... but i am going to glasto next year... 40th year...

  • dont all leave at the same time! we sat in a field with more drugs, throw away barbeques, cider and nufff free corn on the cob!

  • Tell you what when you've waited in your car for 5 hours to get out the car park, missed your ferrry then sat in MORE traffic for 5 hours and FINALLY get home at 5am when you have to be up for at work at 7am THEN you can bitch and moan about getting off a tiny island with very few 'escape routes'.

To me, that was a bit of a poor ending to an AMAZING weekend. BUT it will not stop me buying a ticket for next year x

  • I booked the 6.30 am ferry on Monday morning and i suggest you do the same if you go next year as there was hardly any queues!Bestival was easily the best organised most friendly festival i have ever been too.Long may it continue!

  • Some of us were still partying at 6.30 am ?????

  • It's not exactly the injustice of the century, is it? More people than in previous years took public transport and consequently the system couldn't cope as well as it had in previous years. The organisers have apologised and will be fixing it for next year - I've never known a festival so responsive to the needs/moans/suggestions of its punters. As for being imprisoned, don't make me laugh. Nobody was forcing you to stay in that queue, were they? Sheesh.

  • They (the organisers) said the same thing in 2008 - when i went through a similar 'ordeal' - lol - It is a logistical nightmare - but just the offer of water (which they gave us in 2008, but not in 2009 ??? ) would have been nice?

  • i was worried about the congestion coming back, even though i had never been before. i didn't know but thought it wasnt worth the risk leaving later when it may get busy. so i got up early feeling rrrough, but missed the crowds at least!

    well done team bestival !!

  • Firstly can you please learn to spell! Secondly get over it- did you not expect this kind of congestion. I got my ferry from Yarmouth and there were no queues, in fact there was space on my ferry. Taking into consideration that I knew it was going to be a hot day I packed my own water because I dont expect other people to look after me.

  • learn to Spell ? W,T,F , you should stick to the topic 'm hand , otherwise , go away and fuck yourself :)

  • How very mature of you!

  • This is my video - my posts - my comments - so - as I said - Go away and FUCK yourself?

  • your comment about 'imprisonment' is laughable. Apart from the inmates at Parkhurst we are all very happy 'prisoners' over here. If you dont like it please dont bother coming back next year and leave it to people who do. Well done to all others who support the organisors and the IOW people. Thanks

  • The congestion was due to a road closure which is the IWCC responsibility, they could have marshalled traffic along seafront or onto one of local recs; ferry issues are ongoing for IOW residents and visitors alike and are subject to an OFT investigation. Its a logistic nightmare 40000 is another 1/4 to the IOW population....tbc

  • I am sad you feel this way about a wonderful weekend. Bestival is viewed positively by Island people as we (until now) appear to have better behaved visitors. The problems you experienced are NOT the Bestival organisors and I feel you have done them a great injustice. The Island has a difficult time as it is economically without this sort of bad publicity...tbc

  • forget about it mate. it looks like it took you 4 hours to make this video????

its a festival, on an island with the population of 125,000ppl. This increases by 50% during bestival. do you honestly think they are going to buy some more ferries for the wkd?

i got the the ferry at 7.30am, no queue and was back in ldn by 10am.

next time, pull your arse out of bed earlier and think about how the other 45000ppl are getting home?

  • took about 4 minutes to make the video ? :) will take a lot longer to get over the experience though :(

  • Do you not have anything better to do with your time?

  • I do actually - am planning my 'getawy' for this year ;)

  • @Cliffsull batty

  • Managed to get to the hovercraft- was basically empty!

  • well done you ??? This is about those who DIDN'T get the bloody Hovercraft and how they were treated.

    See you this year ?

  • Ha... i'm in this video. While i was very thirsty there was a guy with a boombox a little in front of us and we danced like fuck and enjoyed a little bonus bit of party time.

I mean fair enough buddy, but theres no need to be a little bitch with a skinned knee about it. See y'all next year.

  • Easy to solve, stay at home next time!! KNOB!!!

  • Once again...KittyLou takes the personal route and attacks the messenger...I would call her a 'cunt' , but even Cunts can be useful....

I repeat, this is just one person's view of events on the day, and for all those respondents who are getting personal and insulting me, remember that your own posts state that you guys had NO problems getting home, my video is based on MY experience...and you can all take it as you see it!

  • NO way!! The festival itself was fantastic ???? a massive success....my Congrats to the events organisors and 10/10 on that !

  • you can not blame transport on bestival!! i went and when every thing finished we packed up our stuff (whilst drunk) and left then! you must have known you would have problems like this! also membergd is right you could of got the hovercraft for an extra fiver!

  • Bestival organisers are responsible for my being there? Surely their responsibility does not end once we board the Festival Bus???? I admit poor planning on my part...but most are skint after a festival...and at least last year the organisers had arranged for all visitors who were stuck in the 'one and a half hour cue's' had water and toilet facilities??????

  • get the hovercraft. i didn't book, left the campsite at 11am and was in london by 2.30. (grins smugly)

  • Thanks ...I think I might just do that mate...!

  • HA HA Gutted!! Only took us 2 and a half hours to get back, should have got up earlier idiot!!

  • Didn't get to sleep at All...some of us were working there?

  • maybe if you were a bit more organized and had book a ticket in advance or gone at a more sensible time. Why didnt you take your own water? no one was keeping you in the que against your will so you could have left to use the kaizi whenever. I dont remember queing, i was one of the first on the campsite and had a later ferry on monday so we could have some detox on the beach

  • I DID book in advance - I also left reasonably early - this is not about the Isle of Wight people - or the actual Festival itself (which was fucking amazing) - its about how to handle 5,000 thirsty, hot and sweaty hungover festival heads after the event!

  • dude seriously ive waited in a 4 hour que b4 it aint that bad... well it was but quit moaning u massive mongrel

  • JESUS! STOP MOANING. I bet thats all you have done since you got back. Told all your mates...." I can believe all the queues!!? There were only 40,000 people trying to get back at the same time. How come I didnt get home in under 3 hrs?".

Idiot. What do you expect??? 40,000 leaving a small island at the same time all getting the same ferry. You have to prepare for these things and come to terms with the fact that it will take a while to get there and leave.

Was a great festival, c u next yr!!

  • theres no need to get personal mate ! Ì attended over 30 festivals this summer ! All of those were well organised ? Thats the point Ì am making :( so fuck off

  • but it was well organised! I managed to get their from London with no probs. Queues yes, but only to be expected. What time did you leave on monday? I was walking up that horrible steep hill at 8am with a hangover from hell, but I was also on the ferry by 11am. And in London by 2pm. The main thing is, did you think it was worth all the queues and things? I thought so.

What other fests did you go to? I nearly went to Bennicassim this yr, so glad I didnt!

  • you weren't really held prisoner, you could have left the queue at any point and gone to the pub around the corner for a pint and a pee.

the only reason you were queueing for 4 hours was your own bad planning, if you decide to sail the same time as everybody else what do you think is going to happen?

I booked on to the nearby (5 mins walk) campsite, had a few beers and a curry and sailed the next day, no messing.

stop moaning and get yourself a bit more organised next time eh?

  • It took us 4 hours to get out of the car park. There were no stewards or police helping keep the traffic organised and people just kept pushing in at the front. We missed our ferry and booked another for 12.30am. We had lunch in Newport and headed to East Cowes at about 9. We only got to the dock at 12.05am!! Bestival was excellent... Getting home may have put me off going again. Last year was nothing like this! WHAT HAPPENED!??

  • gutted, we had plane sailing all the way there and back

  • What did the IOW festival do that bestival didnt? Were there extra ferries? I queued for bout 3 and a half hours but just assumed it's always like that for festivals over there. What annoyed me more was queueing for 2 hours to actually leave the festival through that stupid little gate at the top of the hill. Took me 10 hours in total to get back to London.
