One more sincere thanks for a great job. Here's a song that I always wanted to learn and you just made it easy. And what's more, you play it exactly the way Jackson Browne plays it, hooking that thumb up on top (except he capo's it as mentioned above). So you know you've given something really good when enough people say thanks. Much appreciated.
Thank you so much for this video. I just started playing this year, and at first I thought I'd have to settle for strumming this song. After a lot of practice, I'm just about there. Next goal is to be able to sing it while picking it - I'll get there. btw you're way too hard on yourself about your teaching ability - no doubt you're helping a lot of people with this. Thanks again!
@cabrenee1 Thank you for the kind words. I think you will find that once you learn to play it the singing comes almost naturally. I'm glad this video helped you, and I look forward to hearing you perform this song soon :)
Thank you for posting this. Beautiful song. I noticed you have the same genetic thing with your thumb as Megan Fox. Glad it didn't stop you from picking up the guitar because you play so good.
@Janicemaxwell It's kind of funny because my father has two thumbs like the thumb on my right hand and my mother has two thumbs like the one on my left hand... I guess when I was an embryo I couldn't decide which thumb I liked better so I just grew one of each
I think the original was capo'd on the second fret. With any song the capo can be moved to change the key of the song to better suit your voice or to simplify chord progression. I just forgot to put it on in the video. All the chords remain the same in relation to the capo.
Thanks for making this, it's helping me a lot. Got a quick question... in the verse, what strings are you picking after you play the F bass? I know the strings for the bass are EBE, but what's the picking pattern after that?
@cspell2k5 5 trillion, that's a lot of vids, I'll bet you don't have time...how do you find time to play guitar or eat or sleep or take a leak or reply to replies? :-)
I have this almost perfect from your video but could you write this song out in a tab? It would make a world of a difference if you had this video and a tab to reference to!!!! The best video for this song by far though!
I think it is so cool you took the time to teach this and I could give a shit bout the negative people. As far as me I have small hands and cant do the reach round on F cord on walk down so improvised and I start in D and walk to G....Completely play by ear and no formal lessons so I usually try to find that "comfortable place" in my vocal range...good job and thanx again...good inspiration
well it would be more helpful to write down a tab. but this is confusing and at some parts way too fast. and it still doesnt sound right at some parts
Thanks but did you say how to do the second part of the verses? You know when he says "These days I seem to think a lot, about the things that I forgot to do. And all of the times I had a chance to."
This is sweet tune, and at times my brain did go into melt down trying to figure out what you where telling me but its all there. Point of fact is that i can't find a single other video teaching this tune! Ignore L4D92, i don't think he even likes himself. Thanks for a great effort - keep on keepin on!
You have JB's method down pat. It is the closest I have found. I suggest rerecording your lesson with the camera positioned to show both hands at once. Its not easy to teach, is it?
@L4D92 - Why would you slate this guy and everyone else you have slated on you tube for that matter? I'll give you credit where it's due though, your well balanced! You have a big fat chip on each shoulder. I thought you where young like 14 or something, but your nearly 30...
Miserable young bastards only grow up to be miserable old bastards!
Thank you for this work. I know it took some effort to put together and it is greatly appreciated. I'll be playing this one soon, thanks to your help!
Hey, thanks for posting this video. I wanted to learn this exact version, and this was very helpful. It's a little hard to play at first, but it's easy once you practice and get the hang of it. Thanks again!
Great Job! JB likes to tune his guitar down a fret, so if ya capo it on the first fret it will be in tune with JB... Also what i like to do is to tune the low e up one notch to a F then capo the first fret that way ya don't have ta use your thumb... makes life a lot easier. the only chord it really changes is the G chord.. just a thought... :)

Jackson probably has it tuned down a step, hence capo 2.

Suppose you know how JB tune his guitar. May you help me to tune the guitare for playing "I'm alive"
I would like to play that song, could't find how to do it.
Help is appreciated.
