I really enjoyed singing in the Honors choir this year (2011) This song was beautiful, and let me tell you, over 1000 people singing the Hallelujah chorus sounds amazing!
@Jaeger7793 That's how things work in the WELS. We use the same 2 or 3 popular songs for every choir concert, special church service, music festival, and worship conference for about 5 years, and they become the "theme songs" of the WELS until the next big hits come along and replace them. (flip and repeat)
@Sjukurkottur I vow to thee my country.... also now the the anthem of the England rugby team! The music is by Gustav Holst (English despite the name!)
"What radiancy of glory, what bliss beyond compare......Jesus in mercy bring us to that dear Land of rest......For Christ is ever with them, the daylight is serene.....The Lamb, forever blessed, the Light that knows no end!"
SaxymanMLC -- the artwork in this vid is beyond awesome. Could you let me know the painter(s) and/or titles of some of these, especially the 24 Elders and Cherubi?
Beautifully sung. Wish I could have made the Conference! "Jesus in mercy bring us to that dear land of rest." -someday :) God's blessings everyone until then!
Thanks for posting this! I was searching around for a good choral example to show my students, and here is the same song, done by more WELS people! Awesome!
You're welcome! I might post more songs from the Worship Conference (if I find the time.) Just hit the subscribe button if you want to see when I post another one.
I'm not sure. I think it's just a group of adult WELS members. I don't think there was a selection process. It was probably a random group of volunteers. Some people at this Worship Conference are veterans. They have been going for years. After a while, you are just expected to play/sing.
Stunning orchestration and singing! This is my favorite hymn (even before the change in tune), and I love this melody with it. I've played it on the organ for both funerals and weddings.
Thank you for posting wonderful, beautiful music. God bless you friend.

Muslims made Jerusalem the golden by that beautiful mosque in the heart of Jerusalem! :) Muslims should build more golden domes in Jerusalem!

@Nasbayern The Jerusalem this song is referring to is heaven. An earthly city wouldn't be worthy of this song.

I sang this in a Michigan Lutheran High School concert a couple of years ago. Now it's theme of the WELS Connection videos. Go figure!

unreal how people so young can produce such mature thoughts and feelings in the minds of all generations. Timeless truths are no doubt produced!

I had the esteemed pleasure of singing with the MLC Chorale and Concert Choirs back in 2002-2004. No one does chorales like the WELS!

Wow. I go to a WELS Lutheran Middle school, and out school is singing this for our Christmas Program.
It gives me goose bumps every time! I love it. :]

Do you happen to know who played for the orchestra? Just curious. It's breathtakingly beautiful.

Very nice video. It is just what I needed at a very difficult time in my life. We need to stay focused on what awaits us.
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." Romans 8:18
