Im thinking of getting a hamster and I really like the robo's because there so cute but I would like one that I could hold and would be a little more still. Would you recommend a winter then?

Breeding: Never breed two hamsters you dont know the genetic background of, those that you find in places such as petco/petsmart come from the hamster equivalent of puppy mills. There is a good chance the offspring will ahve problems such as diabetes with are prevalent in dwarf hamsters.
FennecLuffer483 I had a winter white who would go through that stage too.Most of the time she barely had a stripe at all! She lived to be 2 1/2 so she is fine.:)

It had 3 threee stripes and furry feet, but they labeled it as a djungarian/campbells. Should I risk it and get it?
i own 2 pudding hamsters, 2 winter whites and 1 chinese hamster ( i had 2 but they fought and had to be seperated and her sister did not like me so i sold her to my friend and i check with my friend all the time to see if she is ok ) check out my channel pleasee, this is spam i just want more subs :D

@SunniLuvsU they dont look alike at all in the video is basicly what they both look like but the winter white can be white just search how to tell the difference between them on google the campbells are brown and the winters ae grey with a white belly and a black strip down its back but white ones have a grey strip on its back

Yup I got a Russian dwarf hamster but she dies.. Anyways when I got her I pet her lightly on the back in the box and she bit me and I yanked my hand out and somehownshe hung on my finger and got out I caught her (first time having a hamster)

Oh, and if I'm not mistaken the Campbell is actually a Winter Gold - the dorsal stripe is quite obvious. They're quite rare and beautiful, and usually have a good temperment. Huh, strange. :\ But I hope you had better luck with your new hammie! :)
If you purchase a new hamster, it takes some time for it to bond to you. Aggressive hamsters are normally undersocialized ones in pet shops. I had a Winter Pearl that was quite a biter (couldn't hold him until the day he died) but I now have an Empire Black which is a total goofball. :) Campbells, I notice, can be vicious, but with proper handling and daily interactions (hand-feeding) they can warm-up to you. I don't blame you for returning the hammie, but maybe you could have given it a chance?
You do know that if you don't tame a hamster they won't be nice. If you would have spent some time with the Campbell female she could have been just as sweet as the Winter White
OMG! i had a hamster named cheerio (don't know why i named him that) and i picked his sister/brother and that little booger bit me! so i decided to pick cheerio! he is no longer with me...
Cleo has bit and drawn blood from all 4 of us LOLOL it is no big thing it is our fault by sticking hand inside her cage to pick her up because that is when she bites. We are invading HER territory. We now wait for her to come out on her own onto our hand and she does every time because she loves to be sociable. Keep in mind we have had her 7 months.
you can't get a brand new hammy and expect it to be tamed. It takes time and patience but that is your choice to take the hamster back. we have 2 new chinese dwarf hammys and they are very timid don't bite but we give them the space they need right now.
we have a female too she was not tame at first and STILL bites us her name is CLEO and we love her to deafessesss! She only bites us if we invade her space. Can you blame her? She comes out on her on onto our hands and loves running around bed and loves to be held. Just don't put your fingers in her cage because she will bite you. But once she comes out on her on she can be petted and handled.

I was originally wanting winter whites but when I asked pets at home which russian hamsters they had the lady replied "uhm..they are just normall Russians"...she had no idea about the two different types!!! So I went for two male robos.
That's a really nice cage setup! I only have one Robo so I have a small-ish size S.A.M cage for her. I really like the white bedding, it makes the cage look bigger. Oh, and 1 question, How do you get them to be awake during the day? My baby just sleeps all day.
how many gallons is that tank because im going to get 2 winter white hamsters soon and i was going to make the cage an aquarium and im not sure how big to get it. should i get 10 gallons or 20 gallons?
@KBSelenaGomezFan Chances are, the winter white will be much easier to tame and hold. I have two robos and while it's only been 11 days, I'm starting to lose patience with one of them who is showing very little progress.
@RoboHamsterify My old hamster was the most Viscious little devil ever! I didn't know you could return them so I kept her. The only time I ever got to touch her without getting a piece of me bitten off was when she was dieing. I still loved her though.

i think tameness has a lot to do with the way hamsters were brought up by the owners.
my winter white is very cute, the little boy, but i don't think he'll ever be as tame as the one in the video... he's too active for that and he wasn't handled or touched as a baby at all by humans, so he's okay with me touching but won't be still for long (i can keep it in my hand for 2-3 minutes at a time or longer with some food). nevertheless i love him very much. :)
@63628094 if you keep your hammy in your room, the coloration won't change even if you live in Sweden for example, because we all use lamps, and it's like sunshine for them... (so they don't sense that the days are getting shorter.)
so unless you put it in a room where you rarely use artificial light the fur-colour won't change - not even if you live in Sweden!

i got a winter white about a week and a half ago and i held it the first day, and he didnt bite, but now, when i pick him up or if i just put my hand in the cage, he will bite like crazy and hold on with his teeth even if i pick up my hand high off the ground. even when i give him treats he takes them from my hand, bites me, and runs away. any tips/help!!??!
@bush242 no we should still be kind to them even though they bite us because we bought them right? And everyday, take him/her out for awhile and you must keep like stroking him/her (not beating when i say stroke i mean by slowly and gently sliding your hands on the back of your hamster) and it'll reconize you and will not bite no matter what, then,it'll be friends with you :) .

Please don't mix campbells and WW.
They are not the same species and cannot communicate, therefor they will probably fight.
I know that you returned the Campbell, but don't keep diferent species together again.

We now wait for her to come out on her own onto our hand and she does every time because she loves to be sociable. Keep in mind we have had her 7 months.

you can't get a brand new hammy and expect it to be tamed. It takes time and patience but that is your choice to take the hamster back. we have 2 new chinese dwarf hammys and they are very timid don't bite but we give them the space they need right now.

we have a female too she was not tame at first and STILL bites us her name is CLEO and we love her to deafessesss! She only bites us if we invade her space. Can you blame her? She comes out on her on onto our hands and loves running around bed and loves to be held. Just don't put your fingers in her cage because she will bite you. But once she comes out on her on she can be petted and handled.

I was originally wanting winter whites but when I asked pets at home which russian hamsters they had the lady replied "uhm..they are just normall Russians"...she had no idea about the two different types!!! So I went for two male robos.

That's a really nice cage setup! I only have one Robo so I have a small-ish size S.A.M cage for her. I really like the white bedding, it makes the cage look bigger. Oh, and 1 question, How do you get them to be awake during the day? My baby just sleeps all day.

@KBSelenaGomezFan Chances are, the winter white will be much easier to tame and hold. I have two robos and while it's only been 11 days, I'm starting to lose patience with one of them who is showing very little progress.

@RoboHamsterify My old hamster was the most Viscious little devil ever! I didn't know you could return them so I kept her. The only time I ever got to touch her without getting a piece of me bitten off was when she was dieing. I still loved her though.

i think tameness has a lot to do with the way hamsters were brought up by the owners.
my winter white is very cute, the little boy, but i don't think he'll ever be as tame as the one in the video... he's too active for that and he wasn't handled or touched as a baby at all by humans, so he's okay with me touching but won't be still for long (i can keep it in my hand for 2-3 minutes at a time or longer with some food). nevertheless i love him very much. :)

@63628094 if you keep your hammy in your room, the coloration won't change even if you live in Sweden for example, because we all use lamps, and it's like sunshine for them... (so they don't sense that the days are getting shorter.)
so unless you put it in a room where you rarely use artificial light the fur-colour won't change - not even if you live in Sweden!
you don't have to feel at disadvantage :)

i got a winter white about a week and a half ago and i held it the first day, and he didnt bite, but now, when i pick him up or if i just put my hand in the cage, he will bite like crazy and hold on with his teeth even if i pick up my hand high off the ground. even when i give him treats he takes them from my hand, bites me, and runs away. any tips/help!!??!

don't give him food right after he bit You,
then he will know biting does not produce good rewards.
Only give him food when he didn't bite, or a liitle while after.
But not right away,as he will assume : I'm biting, and then I'm getting food"-
he'll think that's what makes You give it to him.:) Don't reinforce unwanted behavior with food. Hope that helps.
Also, try letting him know You've got the food and make him to come to You,
that way your hand is not in the cage.

@bush242 no we should still be kind to them even though they bite us because we bought them right? And everyday, take him/her out for awhile and you must keep like stroking him/her (not beating when i say stroke i mean by slowly and gently sliding your hands on the back of your hamster) and it'll reconize you and will not bite no matter what, then,it'll be friends with you :) .
