Pop artists and Prejudice

the problem it's not the music or the quality or the popularity. The problem is that the music in the media it isn't a way to deliver a message from the soul of the artist but it is a way to sell a "popular message". It may give a good rythm to dance and enjoy, but for the artist that want to real express a message for the consciousness of the people, the way that people is valorating the music seems like a lack of hope for them.

@chileXcore Lots of pop music has feeling, alot of rock music in the past has been more generic than much pop. Most of the best pop music now is indie pop, For some weird reason people separate it from the other more chart stuff often, I don't know why.

pop artist and other artist in the industry of music has a very powerful way or tendencies to mislead many. songs are very powerful tool to either destroy keep us away from our faith with God. those talents should be dedicated to God to bring helpless souls.but instead God is not Glorified.life is too little to spend half of your life making music for the world. use music to attract people to God. not attract people to love the wat is in the world.

i think entertainers ex. pop , rock etc artsist the industry itself is missing the point of living...the nature of their job is misleading the many. God is not exalted in the process-the one who gave them those precious talent. they should have used their talent helping lost souls to God. the listeners on the other hand are wasting time idolizing going crazy to those artist. God is a jealous God. He wants us to use our little time bring our neighbors closer to God not to the things of the world

i personally don't find pop music atractive, but i know there's a bunch of excellent musicians that express themselves through this style, the problem is that pop music is more often used than any other music to promote cosumism and that stuff,........in my opinion you find the most profound messages in classical, jazz, rock and metal music......but, each music's got its own qualities

el problema surge cuando los artistas de pop no hacen musica sino que se convierten solamente en titeres de las compañias discograficas quienes tratan de lucrar con solo la imagen del artista.y entonces el artista no escribe sus canciones, no canta en vivo en sus conciertos, le dicen que vestir y no puede opinar. y esta manera de vender tiene acaparado el mercado de la musica y no le dan la oportunidad a verdaderos talentos de mostrarnos musica hecha con el corazon y no con una sintetizadora.

People thinking that mainstream is average are closed mined.One of the facts about popular culture is that people can choose if they like it or not.Sometimes someone average gains popularity but never last long.And I think thats the main pointpopular artists who are famous for years cant be bad or average,because if they were,people would not like them.They have to have something that makes them exceptional even if they are called popular or mainstream or else they would not be here.

If you want to talk about pop music AND quality music, you need look no further than David Archuleta. Most of his music is pop, but he is definitely an amazing singer!

it's called mainstream artists ... people who are not providing something unique yet good ... and sometimes good is not enough.. you know like you need to listen to something that is exceptional ..

and the reason why they're popular is that they sing what mainstream like which might not necessarily be what they like ... it's not a total bad thing ... again it's just good as in .. Average

i personally don't like it when artists i love go mainstream ... it's like losing their significant touch !

Popularity has nothing to do with quality, I think. It has more to do with personal taste. Plenty of pop artists are popular but are not really talented, probably just there to bandwagon. Subsequently, there are artists that have massive talent but are often looked over.

Since we've got the internet, it's been possible for us to find music that is not played on the radio. And some of us discover artists that appeal to us or are maybe just too quirky for public consumption.

popularity equates fame that is why so many people would like to achieve it but as to pop artists, yes they do seek it but in order to be substantial, there has to be more in their facade a genuine talent that everyone could relate to

I think a lot of people get extremely disappointed when an artist that they love goes "mainstream" or gets extremely popular because it influences their music. The artist become influenced by what will "sell" rather than what their original morals were, and the artist strays from what originally drew fans to them.

Also, most pop artists these days sell themselves with sex, violence, and materialism, which to some people aren't respectable things to gain fame over.

The prejudices are always related to the fact that pop culture is a mass culture which is often considered "mal gusto", something ordinary, cheap, low quality...but in most Western cultures, it is hard to make a career if you're not worth anything, unlike, for example, Russian pop, which is full of low quality cheap product. My poin being, cultures differ on that behalf, and the level of quality in mass culture is very easy to determine.

I think in a lot of cases there is a (good) reason why someone is popular. At the moment, I think we have a fair share of talented, creative, good, popular artists. There are also some very popular artists that in my opinion do no ''deserve'' the title artist because they lack in quality. But then the real question is what is quality when it comes to art

Me faltó decir, que hay artistas pop que tienen talento y hay quienes no lo tienen.

Pero como yo de música no entiendo demasiado... si desafinan me voy a dar cuenta si es algo que se escuche realmente feo... Y sobre gustos no hay nada escrito...

Pienso que es una cuestión de carisma.

Hay personas que pueden tener mucho talento pero no tendrán popularidad (que los siga mucha gente) porque les falta carisma. Y personas que tienen mucha popularidad, poco talento pero mucho carisma.

Me parece que la cuestión está en no discriminar a nadie. A mi me puede gustar alguien por tener carisma o por tener talento, o por tener ambas. (Sorry I write spanish. I love your books! Greetings from Uruguay!)

I actually think those prejudices come from people that think what they like deserve to have as popularity as pop artists. So what they do is to criticise pop artists just to feel that their oppinion is better, because it's not popular.. And I mean, who cares? As long as you like something, popularity shouldn't be a matter you should care about, should it?

I think that if Pop Artist dont hurt anyone is ok, I love pop, and I love Britney Spears, Madonna, Michael Jackson, etc, etc I dont think they're not talented they bring hapiness to my world and that FOR ME is excellent!!
