The girl sees that something is stuck in the chimney and "She doesnt know what it is." (Obviously it is santa who got stuck in there) This is why when she waited for santa to come, he never came because he was stuck in the chimney

In the end her brother explains that santa got stuck in the chimney, and instead of them tryin to free him they decided to have him every christmas.
