  • Coole Band

  • This song... unforgettable! Been listening to it for ages, it never lets me down!

  • Bad-fucking ass, viking metal is awesome cuz in a way the vikings were the first metalheads: a bunch of long bearded Scandinavians who loved to get drunk and fuck shit up and just didn't give a shit about what people thought of em.

  • @Heavymetalgamer28

The Vikings also established the trading city Kiev, which would be the central trading area in eastern europe.

  • @chica476

Speaking of Eastern Europe, a lot of Russians are directly descended from vikings.

  • @Heavymetalgamer28

Perhaps a few, but not most, I would wager that most russians, ukrainians, byelorussians and ruthenians, are more or less, descended from the ancient slavs, which are akin to modern poles, czechs, silesians, kashubians... etc.

  • @chica476

A lot of Slavs are also descended from vikings, if you look at the history of the Kievian Rus', like you said, it was founded by vikings which would mean that Russians and Ukrainians have viking blood.

  • If you think that sweds and norwegians sailed only these viking ships then you are wrong. you can include oeselians, finns, ests, samis and many more norse and proto-uralic tribes.

  • Great!!! :D

  • verry dragon :-]

  • @monsterhead13

I know, I agree with you, but people search in youtube for Viking Metal... so Einherjer can be found sooner

And also its like more focused to certain lyrical theme or music inside the Pagan metal

but yeah I like to say its Pagan Melodic Metal ... Blackish or something

  • @RobGzz amon amarth is viking themed melodic death metal, primordial is blackened folk metal

  • @RobGzz First time I ever heard folk metal I searched Viking metal out of utter boredom. Imagine my surprise that I found out its a real thing. And I personally feel it is the correct term for this music. Folk metal is a general term; celtic metal, Viking Metal, Mesopotamian Metal, is just more specific. Pagan metal has the same issue. There's a huge difference between different groups of pagans.

  • @monsterhead13

I agree there is no sutch think as viking metal, but Einherjer themselfs refere to themselfs are Viking Metal, so I guess Einherjer is Viking Metal.

  • @monsterhead13 Actually according to Their record label, Napalm Records they are "Viking Folk Metal ", so I guess people are getting their information from the horses mouth, per say...

  • @monsterhead13 Fuck what?! No such thing as viking metal?! What do you think Bathory created then? They came before ANY of these bands and created a genre of music called "Viking Metal" with their 1990 album "Hammerheart". Without bathory none of these bands would probably exist; Einherjer, Moonsorrow, Tyr, Turisas, Ensiferum you name it. Bathory created "Viking Metal" which has chanting and sorrowfull music etc.

  • @monsterhead13 who cares what its called, can't you enjoy the music without being a little bitch?

  • @monsterhead13

actually there is such a thing as viking metal as a distinct musical subgenre, though einherjer is certainly not it.. it is characterized by melodic similarity to 19th century ballads, varying and woven/layered refrains (resulting in very long songs), black metal-like guitar distortion, clean vocals, chant-like vocal harmonies, etc.. Best examples are Bathory and Falkenbach. RIP QUORTHON :)

  • @monsterhead13 If people name it Viking Metal, then sure enough, It's Viking Metal. You can consider Viking Metal a type of Folk/Pagan Metal if it makes you happy. Calling it Viking is specific and far easier than saying, "It's folk metal with biking themes." There really is no need to be that technical.

  • @monsterhead13 tell that to bathory

  • Great song

  • YEA ARRIBA EL METAL

  • Awesome 5/5 and favorite

  • This is awesome!

  • Amon Amarth are greatly overrated. I'm a fan of Moonsorrow, Manegarm, etc. I wouldn't even class them as Viking metal. Nonetheless, how does the recording equiptment affect the songwriting itself?

Though, I have no problem with anyone liking them whatsoever, they just aren't for me.

  • Amon Amarth are GREAT live though, they really know how to put up a show. Moonsorrow's great too. They make really produce good music, and make it sound even better live (seen them twice)

  • Wow, calling me a faggot is so justified. I'll also have you know one of my favourite albums was released in 1996, and Bathory released a great viking metal album before this. What does date have to do with anything?

  • Wow, these guys suck compared to other bands in the genre.

  • Yeah

  • Correction: these guys are the best band in the genre.

  • I respectfully disagree.

  • thats right

  • Kilgorin10, that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard.

  • How so?

  • Wow, Kilgorin10 sucks compared to other trolls in the genre.

  • I'm not trolling, just stating my opinion.

  • Not quite, you STATED that they suck, you did not say"I don't like them"there's a huge difference and those who do like them do not appreciate your claim =/

  • Actually, you're right. I was wrong to say that far, and I apologize for that.

  • mycket bra

  • ich liebe es ! :)

  • vikings!!

  • einfach geil !!!!
