  • Now, americans will finally know how awesome it is to have a foreskin.

  • great invention...is these inventions can contribute to save more lives then there no reason to oppose...

  • wonderful !!!

  • america is really the place of contradictions

  • i dont want my regular cells! i want my cells to be custom engineered to be super human, so i can have a rack of body parts at home to bolt on for off-road use, couch potatoe use, first date use, long flights use, etc.... now if I could just find some Adamantium!

  • Anthony Atala is a genius! fuck afghanistan, even if we win in the battlefield, we lose, because we spend hundreds of billions of dollars on killing, instead of this.

  • thanks for the update

  • On a serious note, this seems it will be only treatment for rich people who can offer such treatment.

  • What I really want to see is a monkey with 4 asses. Dr. Mephisto made it happened.

  • I don't know how scientists don't grab these ignorant talking heads by the throat and scream, "YOU ARE A FUCKING MORON WITH A CHILD'S UNDERSTANDING OF SCIENCE!"

  • Mr Bean! Mr BEan! Mr Bean! Mr BEan! Mr Bean! Mr BEan! Mr Bean! Mr BEan! Mr Bean! Mr BEan! Mr Bean! Mr BEan! Mr Bean! Mr BEan! Mr Bean! Mr BEan! Mr Bean! Mr BEan!

  • the interviewer looked so disgusted

  • When are more clinics gonna catch on to this stuff and when are "tissue engineering clinics" gonna be much more common and available to the public, its 2011 now, hopefully soon..

  • HA HAH Aha ah.

  • but there's always the chance of cancer

  • Man how much would that cost, for 6 weeks of planting a tissue?

  • I was thinking the same thing...? The less complex the tissue probably the cheaper also the bigger the tissue impanted probably the more.. expensive..

  • OMG i want to be in there now and messing with steam cells....

  • Science is awesome!

  • the only organ they will not engineer is the brain. you may have the same personality (or not) but you wont have the same soul.

  • @saiojin What is a soul?

  • nice

  • Why are ignorant conservatives against this?!

  • @demoshe2002 they are againsted embryonic stemcells not the ones found in bonemarro etc. it's rediculous considering what they are at harvest stage but most of christianity seems ridiculous. fetal stemcells can be used for research only and when they are used for other bodies we tend to see cancer. you can regrow your own organs thanks to the clumps of cells harvested out of women. Pretty fricken cool

  • @sameritaco they are also against faggots like you

  • @zZzFuckingTrollzZz stfu fucking troll. back to the toilet - go on get!

  • @demoshe2002 lol because they're ignorant!

  • You could make a lot of money synthesizing 12" penises. In fact, offer one to politicians opposing stem cell research.

  • f**king funny comment ! you can say that again dude ! XD

  • @chawk111 you made me laugh :D

  • I wonder how long before anyone who has to have a section of their colon removed due to cancer can just have a new colon grown and not have to live with a colostomy bag. I have a feeling it's more complicated than that, because this almost seems like it could be done, already, but it's not (I kinda assume we'd have heard).

  • Wow that's really interesting and cool. :D

  • This better come out soon, otherwise at this rate artificial organs will probably be better, like turbo hearts and night vision eyes.

  • Son of a bitch. That's amazing.

  • I'm studying about this stuff, and I hope to get a career out of it one day. All I can say is that it'll take years, decades for regulations and approval. The "new stuff" we -have- today have been in the works for 10 to 20 years. It'll be two decades until stuff like this surface at all in the market :3

Then again, we have artificial skin, but that was the easiest thing to make first xD

  • I wish you all the best simon. Have you seen what Dr. Atala has done with 3dPrinters? He's actually printed a working heart. I don't think it's as far off as you estimate.

  • Ah! I had seen that video right after this one. It's amazing.

  • when they kept saying that the organs were custom made i kept thinking of them being like super powerful so that humans would be able to run for longer or jump high or move faster...we are all gonna be superheros!

  • "we are all gonna be superheros!"

Yes we will. And we will live longer too. And becoming a 'furry' in reality won't be so far fetched.

  • thats amazing

  • this thing needs major focus and funding

i mean, should we fund billion dollar particle collider ? or means to regrow our heart and other vital body organs ?

  • What we should is, to stop giving billions and billions to the military and give it to the scientists....

  • I know, I feel like we need to have some kind of scientific boom to happen. kinda jump our science up a notch or two.

  • @Junije1 thank you

  • This technology is wonderful..

  • @Junije1 It's a tragedy isn't it. There is no other word I think that can describe it better than that. A tragedy.

  • You need to see in the long term. The particle collider (CERN?) you are thinking of, will eventually one day provide us with a virtually infinite amount of energy to be used for maintaining life on this planet.

Because, what's a new heart good for, if you have to life in a cold hut.

  • Don't be hating on the LHC. It had multinational funding.how about we cut the war in Iraq, and on drugs first.

  • I wonder how governments and corporations will react to this technology. I've a nasty feeling they might just try to repress it.

  • This will be developed fully to allow those that can afford the products will be able to extend greatly their physical life.

Alas, I too cannot see this being used to help everyday people; they'll be kept out due to cost and categorization as "experimental" for as long as possible. This in light of histories many examples of what appear to be feigned mistakes to "cull the herd" to make room for needs of the privileged few de jour.

Ironically, increasing as we were 'civilized'.

  • So awesome!

  • this is crazy stuff

  • Wow.

  • wow

  • holy crap
