  • Wow good job

  • that looks really good!

  • lol be aware that the arachnid warrior is actually BIGGER. than that.

  • you cant do a 7 weeks tutorial i guess....

  • Can you scan a video and take an animation out of that? Like a normal video with only one animated person.

  • Very cool. Though I'm a bit of a starship trooper buff so I have to say that I think the uh, snout/muzzle of the arachnid is a little too long, but that's just me lol.

This has a quality feel to it that I'd expect to find on Syfy. Some might take that as an insult (Syfy's Channel's graphics aren't the greatest) But given what you had to work with, very good job.

  • awesome

  • Holy shit. That guy looks so real.

  • haha, that's wild!

  • running guy's final thought's: WHERES MY BUGSPRAY???

  • Wow!! Great work man :D I love it. I'm starting out with this awesome crap too but I need a new camera. I've got a crappy camera test on my channel (yes, just one to see if Syntheyes would track it). I love this stuff :D

  • "I textured it, lite it, tracked it, color corrected it, rotoscoped it and composited it"

    Technologic...technologic...technologic...

  • fuck is that mean you cannot escape the anarchid

  • Too bad it didn't catch that SOB. I want to see you rip him apart (but in a nice way, though). Be kind, be delicate, but rip him limb from limb. Gore!!

  • starship troopers?

  • LOVE it! I subbed! nice work my man !

  • How do u get the person in front of the arachnid?

  • @hendrikwiersma

it's called rotoscoping, where you cut out the actor to be placed infront of something or to remove the background

  • @darthvenom7830

dude this is not rottoscoping.what he did is to take a shot of the guy runing and then create the the arachnid in 3d animation. and then use 3d tracking to make. a match move camera.

and then he plant the arachnid inside the real footage

  • @gabi690 there is rotoscoping done, I had to put the guy infront of the arachnid somehow. But like you said, the biggest part is of course the animation and tracking.

  • how did u animate it?

  • @anxs220

with Autodesk Maya and watching the movie, Starship Troopers. Going frame by frame for movement reference, always had the arachnid with two feet on the ground at a time

  • @darthvenom7830 thats a lot of work!

    looks awesome

  • Hell of a lot better than those damn Sci-Fi movies.

  • I beg you! make an tutorial xd

  • effing awesome!

  • pretty sick

  • here is the big question.... was it easy?

  • @6BlackWood9

no. First you have to film it, track the shot, model teh arachind, texture the arachind, light the arachnid, animate it, render it out, composite the shot, add sound effects, and do any final color correction. it took 7 weeks

  • since you actually attend visual class, they teach to make everything in passes? just that i self-learn 3ds max and achieve pretty good results in the same render - AO, spec, GI, never used passes. is it for compositing so you can adjust each pass separately for better result or what? very good btw

  • the real reason to use passes is for better control and tweaking, like adjusting specular highlights, you wanna brighten the highlights but wanna leave everything else alone.

  • Can I Haz Your Talent?

  • Would you like to know more?

  • Could definately do with some better sound but the animation is great!

  • this.. is amazing..

  • Another reason not to go to Detroit

  • SO SICK! Check out deformedstudios channel its awesome.

  • very cool.

  • Quite well done! Very impressive!

  • fantastic animation, integrated into live action, is waay better than my pass at 3d composition, really love it :D very well done :)

i bet the rendering took a long will, you have occlusion in there, must have took a long while.

  • I get it, You made the highlight down so you can make it realistic

  • the dude survived you didnt :D

  • You sir, have one the game infinity times over.

  • Its lol-tastic!

  • cool hehe

  • pretty cool idea i love it :D but need more color correction but still great

  • That's one bloody Uropygi attack... on Earth! What an EXCELLENT work!

  • wtf?!

  • holy SH!T that was incredible

  • nice lol

  • i thought it would have got him at 0:04

  • 5*

    P.S. ich kann deutsch

  • starship troopers... lol

  • Geil

    Aber kann hier keiner Deutsch?

  • awesome,

  • i wish i can do stuff like that, make movies

  • WOW!!

    AMAZING MODEL!!

i would learn it now too..

but its so hard without good english skills.. in maya or else

  • do arachnids even have mouths??

  • yes they do. otherwise they couldn't eat

  • then where are their mouths?!? also they don't have to have mouths they could be like worms n absorb nutrients from their skin(i think that's what worms do...) oh yea btw great vid

  • I was looking at some pics and bugs have a square-ish hole behind their mandibles. That is their mouth.

  • ok ty!

  • Its science fiction. Enjoy the movie dont think about stuff

  • are you stupid bomik. worms do have mouths. You just cant see them.

  • wow ur a jackass... just cuz i don't know about worms doesn't mean i'm stupid you ass

  • wow your also a jackass. If you spend so much time on youtube asking questions, you could have fucking search the answer yourself rather than asking trivial questions.

You are just one of those idiots who rather ask instead of googling for a simple quesiton and answer.

  • you're the one who's the jackass, going on about me being stupid just cuz i don't know about worms... if i actually did care about this then i would've but i don't care whether or not WORMS HAVE MOUTHS SO JUST STFU YOU ASSHOLE

  • wow like swearing and using caps locks gonna help you insult someone on youtube.

Just goes to show how "educated" you are.

  • i never said that, all i could be is just an average person, just cuz i dun know about worms doesn't mean im stupid

also, you started this, calling me stupid just cuz i dun know bout worms, now how bout u stfu cuz ur rly annoying, srsly u always change the subject = =

  • i never started anything. Who is the one who keeps getting angry? And asking about if worms have mouth is already a stupid question. You should have learn this in basic science in high school in gr 9 or 10.

Am not changing the subject. You're the one who intially gone out of the topic by starting your ranctious mouthing. Seems like you lost yourself in your rage.

  • Comment removed

  • how bout u check your facts, they're right in front of you

  • Bomheiko if you even have the time reflect on your own idiotic question. Am I the only person that finds your enquiry retarded? Nope. If the question you asked was out of the trivial people wouldn't have thumbs down you for asking that.

  • Isn't the mount the big ''Claw'' that sitt on the front of them ?

  • i think i've seen those arachnids in one movie.

but still that one is avesome!

  • @darthvenom7830 the mouth reminds me of the graboids from the movie tremors. also if you would flip around its front small claws it looks and include the lower jaw it would look like a different evolutionary state of a graboid since it would possess 3 mandibles on the bottom. random lol

  • @darthvenom7830 Zing.

  • @Bomiheko2 the mouth is at the beggining of the mandables

  • @Bomiheko2 hahah yer such an r tard

  • @Bomiheko2 yes

  • @Russianppshfun over a year ago dude...

  • wow, you are a professional, how abouth an alien attack?

  • nice use of cg. 5*

  • awsome

  • That's a really nice bug you got there.

  • were do ya get those sounds

  • I think he just recordedthe sounds from the movie

  • wow... that looks really good

  • It happens ...

  • please! I need ur HELP!!!!! please can u give me some tips about color correction??? what did u do to make the 3D bug to match color with ur original vid...please I would be really greatfull...thx:D

  • the biggest thing you need to do to get it to match is to try and match the actual lights of the environment. it was a cloudy day that day so I used a lot of dim area lights to light my scene. I saturated the color pass also, this helped make it less cg looking since real things aren't super colorful. another thing you can do to help better blend it together is use a adjustment layer, adding a tint to it so that everything is colored or tinted the same.

  • ok so in conclusion the first thing I need to setup is the lighting of my scene...trying to simulate the behavior

of the real lights enviroment and play with color pass settings to match color with the escene...uhmm it makes alot of sense right now..:D ah and when u say a dim area light it could be a free area light or maybie a skyportal speaking in 3Ds max and metalray...? could u give me a cuple more of tips? Im really greatfull:D

  • ah and sorry 4 my sucking english xD hope u understand what Im talking about...Cheers from japan:D

  • That came out really nice! Great job man!

  • wow,thats great

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's is SOOO COOL!

  • im guessing your gettig big bucks for movies right?

  • very very very good this video!!!!

  • THIS was so cool :D

    nice job

  • What program/s/ was used for this?

  • read description

  • Thanks, I'm a little slow at the moment.

  • Legs are a bit skinny, but otherwise WELL DONE!!!

  • em....it's a bug...

  • em? its an arachnid? :) Look up starship troopers.

  • Yeah. I know. Bugs are easier than arachnid.

  • This is the first video that i've seen where the Arachnid actually looks realistic and moves properly.

Great work. Make some more :p

  • good job try havin 1 vid with a gatling gun scene, airsoft gatling would work fine too,put like 10 bugs and u hold it down with movin blastin them, hell yea

  • u hav to tell me how to do that

  • making this must have take you some time to finish it

    great job bro

  • Awesome work man XD

  • Yea man...U hould have made those bugs in the last 2 movies:P

Such a shame....They just suck to hard..Incredible that a 100$ movie would make a sequel with a budget on 7$ and another on 20$...........

  • Better job than they did in the last movie lol.

  • wow dude you rock...who know you can end up in the movie business

  • Great man!!!

  • WOAH!!!! damn man you should be in the movies 0_0

  • I'm very impressed with the results PFTracker came up with for your piece. Where can I find out more about it? I've tried googling it, but nothing really relevant comes up. I'm assuming this is some Maya feature?

  • that was cool dawg

  • Same exact graphics as SST 3.

  • Excellent work, very nice men!!!!

  • thats alot of work for seven seconds

  • nice work im shure uv heard this b4 but this is a great masterpiece

  • this is really good! where did you get the sounds?
