Very cool. Though I'm a bit of a starship trooper buff so I have to say that I think the uh, snout/muzzle of the arachnid is a little too long, but that's just me lol.
This has a quality feel to it that I'd expect to find on Syfy. Some might take that as an insult (Syfy's Channel's graphics aren't the greatest) But given what you had to work with, very good job.
Wow!! Great work man :D I love it. I'm starting out with this awesome crap too but I need a new camera. I've got a crappy camera test on my channel (yes, just one to see if Syntheyes would track it). I love this stuff :D
Too bad it didn't catch that SOB. I want to see you rip him apart (but in a nice way, though). Be kind, be delicate, but rip him limb from limb. Gore!!
dude this is not rottoscoping.what he did is to take a shot of the guy runing and then create the the arachnid in 3d animation. and then use 3d tracking to make. a match move camera.
and then he plant the arachnid inside the real footage
@gabi690 there is rotoscoping done, I had to put the guy infront of the arachnid somehow. But like you said, the biggest part is of course the animation and tracking.
with Autodesk Maya and watching the movie, Starship Troopers. Going frame by frame for movement reference, always had the arachnid with two feet on the ground at a time
no. First you have to film it, track the shot, model teh arachind, texture the arachind, light the arachnid, animate it, render it out, composite the shot, add sound effects, and do any final color correction. it took 7 weeks
since you actually attend visual class, they teach to make everything in passes? just that i self-learn 3ds max and achieve pretty good results in the same render - AO, spec, GI, never used passes. is it for compositing so you can adjust each pass separately for better result or what? very good btw
the real reason to use passes is for better control and tweaking, like adjusting specular highlights, you wanna brighten the highlights but wanna leave everything else alone.
then where are their mouths?!? also they don't have to have mouths they could be like worms n absorb nutrients from their skin(i think that's what worms do...) oh yea btw great vid
wow your also a jackass. If you spend so much time on youtube asking questions, you could have fucking search the answer yourself rather than asking trivial questions.
You are just one of those idiots who rather ask instead of googling for a simple quesiton and answer.
you're the one who's the jackass, going on about me being stupid just cuz i don't know about worms... if i actually did care about this then i would've but i don't care whether or not WORMS HAVE MOUTHS SO JUST STFU YOU ASSHOLE
i never said that, all i could be is just an average person, just cuz i dun know about worms doesn't mean im stupid
also, you started this, calling me stupid just cuz i dun know bout worms, now how bout u stfu cuz ur rly annoying, srsly u always change the subject = =
i never started anything. Who is the one who keeps getting angry? And asking about if worms have mouth is already a stupid question. You should have learn this in basic science in high school in gr 9 or 10.
Am not changing the subject. You're the one who intially gone out of the topic by starting your ranctious mouthing. Seems like you lost yourself in your rage.
Bomheiko if you even have the time reflect on your own idiotic question. Am I the only person that finds your enquiry retarded? Nope. If the question you asked was out of the trivial people wouldn't have thumbs down you for asking that.
@darthvenom7830 the mouth reminds me of the graboids from the movie tremors. also if you would flip around its front small claws it looks and include the lower jaw it would look like a different evolutionary state of a graboid since it would possess 3 mandibles on the bottom. random lol
please! I need ur HELP!!!!! please can u give me some tips about color correction??? what did u do to make the 3D bug to match color with ur original vid...please I would be really greatfull...thx:D
the biggest thing you need to do to get it to match is to try and match the actual lights of the environment. it was a cloudy day that day so I used a lot of dim area lights to light my scene. I saturated the color pass also, this helped make it less cg looking since real things aren't super colorful. another thing you can do to help better blend it together is use a adjustment layer, adding a tint to it so that everything is colored or tinted the same.
ok so in conclusion the first thing I need to setup is the lighting of my scene...trying to simulate the behavior
of the real lights enviroment and play with color pass settings to match color with the escene...uhmm it makes alot of sense right now..:D ah and when u say a dim area light it could be a free area light or maybie a skyportal speaking in 3Ds max and metalray...? could u give me a cuple more of tips? Im really greatfull:D
good job try havin 1 vid with a gatling gun scene, airsoft gatling would work fine too,put like 10 bugs and u hold it down with movin blastin them, hell yea
I'm very impressed with the results PFTracker came up with for your piece. Where can I find out more about it? I've tried googling it, but nothing really relevant comes up. I'm assuming this is some Maya feature?

How do u get the person in front of the arachnid?

@hendrikwiersma
it's called rotoscoping, where you cut out the actor to be placed infront of something or to remove the background
