what!!!!?, I{m really gettin sick of poeple saying that Rusty is not creative, or melodic, or musical, you should listen to outworlds music, and you'll see and for DTpetrucci, i like Petrucci style also, but the real reason petrucci is way more popular is because the music even when it was not made for hit singles, it was made for more common taste, at least for prog, heavy metal heads, rusty ihas more artistic but more exotic playing, you can tell with dark matter

i mean yeah he is phenomenally quick

but thats all he has got

his ideas arent too original

and he plays oo fast to hear them

he does have perfect technique though

but there are way better guitarists

just my opinion though i guess

dunno, I think rusty's different enough for it to be difficult to compare the two. JP is more or less a melodic player, rusty's a bit more complicated, not necesarily musically, but his riffs are just longer. Takes a little while longer to get your head around them fully.

well thats true it is ur opinion but if u actually watched him ud understand that he took the ides of becker and gilbert and changed it and made his own style there for he is original and if u watch a interveiw in the new instructional he released he says and i qoute ''i mean not to play fast it just flows naturally threw my fingers''. he is very knowledge in music very often compared to steve vai joe satriani etc but its ur opinion and i cant change that. and i own his first album

yeah he knows his theory too

but i thinkhe lacks versatility completely

shawn lane, for example, can play just as fast as him but doesnt do it all the time and shows how he can adapt

i have never seen rusty do it

its just a shame i think that a guy so technically sound wont branch out

dude anytime you play something that fast its gonna sound like mindless shredding to the untrained ear no matter what he plays. if you slow it down you find he actually uses a lot of interesting scales and melodic ideas... its just that when its played that fast most people cant differentiate what theyr hearing, and it just sounds like bullshit to them. but belive me its NOT, rusty OWNS
