Kicks against the arms under k-1 rules in japan dont award any points unfortenatily for Hinata. It counts as a block and thats the reason it went to an extra round.

@androutsos4 Which I found rather odd, because I thought it was obvious Hinata had won by the end of round 3. Askerov was a punching bag, walking forward for more punishment as the better skilled fighter Hinata toyed with him, kept himself safe and scored his points, just like they teach you how to win from a pressure fighter.

Azkerov only won the extended round because of that knockdown, which was very much due to luck, and not so much due to skill. That what makes this so dissatisfying.

@Blahb27 LUck? no such thing in k-1 final 8 nothing but skill. Dzhabar show cased unbelievable endurance defending or taking without signaling hurt everything hinata threw at him! Unlike Muay thai rules in k-1 they dont reward points to kicks landed in the guard but i do agree that the extra round was unnecessary.

@Blahb27 Yeah the knockdown was luck but I feel bad for Askerov lol...His first 2 fights in k1 were against southpaw tall counter fighters...Thats a hard task for a brawler..They should have gave him someone who would have brawled with him like Chahid or Kraus.

Maybe you didn't see their last match then. Zambidis was outclassed pretty convincingly, and even resorted to faking getting hit in the groin several times to get time to recuperate. Pretty sure that Hinata would've scored a TKO against Zambidis if he hadn't done that acting.

No reason to suspect their next meeting would end any differently really.

you realise its not dirty at all cos it was counted as a knockdown... when ANY (regardless of nationality) has been damaged to the point where they're not defending themselves properly, the ref has the responsibility and duty to step in and stop the fight and count. In the extreme case he'll just stop the fight completely, but in this case it wasnt really that bad. Askerov's punches went in clean and hard, and Hinata didn't defend, so ref stepped in. It's the same for all other fights..
