MPH Programme 4 - Ford Transit & VW Crafter Vans

I've got a ford transit 2004...but I still think the VW is a better vehicle however with the 10k - 12k difference in price. I still think the ford transit is still value for money.....and tomeroque I know what you mean but I'm lucky, having driven 150k and only one set of clutch, brakes and an alternator, still the original tyres.

Conclusion: Ford only got problems, its not safe, the horsepower 135cv arent true....

transit have always looked good. the ride is better when there is weight in it. if you get the right diff they go like lighting. mine does 0-62 in about 12 secs and pulls like a train when load up to 3.5t. i had the new shape sprinter but it spent more time in the garage with computer faults. a service for a tranny is £160 and a merc or a vw is £200+.also a tranny is 200kgs lighter. i thnik enough said transit is a better van full stop!!

How can you say the Transit looks awful? I think it's certainly more purposeful than the very bland Sprinter. At least VW made there version a bit aggressive like the Transit. But remember, the transit will always be the best seller and also the parts are cheaper since Ford don't have to rip off customers by charging like VW and Merc do, just because they are German.

I have to agree with the guy below me i have driven the transit and it was absolutly shite the ride and comfort brilliant but the handeling accelaration and the range of engines are weak.The crafter is gd brilliant drive but the mercedes benz ssprinter is so much better at everything than both of the others and it is better looking than the crafter.

Strange that the guy thinks the Crafter won`t win any beauty contest. I think it`s the best looking european van by far. I like its looks. The Transit looks awful.
