it's interesting that we're designing robots which have LIMITs in range of motion equal to our own...while there is absolutely no reason to make something which has human limitations. Not a very optimized approach to robotics...but its more about that...its about making something we can relate to. People wouldn't "trust" a robot with 10 arms with 360 view that moves a lot faster than a person does. no?

@this1sYiutube welllll it's not about complexity. It's about approach. For instance, Why 2 legs? It's harder to work on 2 legs. world's fastest animal is on 4 legs. 3-4 legs are stable. Multi-legs can actually allow for movement which can easily be done over bad terrain. For instance, if a bipedal robot has rocks in its patch which are large enough, it will have a very difficult time moving around...while a robot with 'centipede' like legs will have no trouble. Artificial limitations.

Where do they go from here? I think they should further develop the legs and and their movement. the fact that they are the part of the robot that least imitate human movement means that they are the least versatile part. Dont get me wrong, this thing is already a scientific miracle, but always look to the future you know.

I do agree that it is a modern marvel. As an older engineering student(30's), I can appreciate the accomplishment, but I would still like to see ASIMO put to good productive use. People need robots for their ability to do productive work not dance. It would be much cheaper to hire a dancer who can really move if one just wants to see dancing. But a tool such as ASIMO should be doing something that can save lives by working in bad environments or something. JMHO.

Sort of robots Wikipedia or something. Other wise i would not count it as a artificial mind but only as hight tech device. That is my opinion. Why they not show how they programming it? I would like to see something that have a blank program for start up and rewriting it on it's own while human teaching him only by physical and verbal contact or for example it would browse world knowledge base on his own, set a prioritis of importes of information by his capabilities and ect . That's going to be real break through. What they showing right now is way to simple for them I bet there is a lot more and we not going to get a chance to see.

I think it would be incredibly dangerous if they could completely think on their own, because that is how we could wind up with some sort of robot Apocalypse. I like the idea of being able to search a worldwide database, just as long as there is some sort of mediator to be sure that it could not cause the robots to go rouge.
