This games is horrifyingly repetative. It deserves a 5 or a 6 at most. The executions are comical, the Orks are comical, the animation is nothing special, the dialog is comical, feels nothing like 40k should.

This is the game I go to when I need something to pick me up from a bad day. Smashing an Orc's face in with a boot, or slicing them in half brings a smile to my face. Even with the little glitches that pop up it's still an entirely fun title. And now that it's cheap as chips to buy people should really grab it and give it a good play. But play it on hardest skill settings to feel like a true Space Marine!
7.5 is a good rating but I'd give it a 8.5. I do agree with the cutscene issues and the fact that the campaign is shorter than most other games (probably the same length as Star Wars the Force Unleashed) But the game itself is a buy!!!
boss fights just tend to be wave after wave of enemies. some are like 10 mins long, such as the last boss. overall...worth one time through, at least in my opinion.
its a good game with an overall story that is satisfying, although at the end it left the story wide open, dont wanna wait another 3 years just for another one :/

My big issue is that multiplayer was meh and even the coop gets meh since its so damn hard in later waves. Imo a cod style spec ops mode would have made the multiplayer. Next game they should let us play in different chapters that finally the last sequence you get to play as titus again.
I really wish we'd get a serious dark 40k game. every game I've played so far has been kinda corny esp when inept chaos or orks turn up. I mean it's supposed to be ott but there should still be a lot of weight to it. i think a cinematic fps/rpg would be the best way to stay true to the fluff

I'd have given it an eight, but 7.5 is still good.

the multi-player in this game reminds me of lost planet, the single player is pretty good, I paid $23 for it, but I think I should paid like $15 though

i am a fan of the 40k universe, this game is shit its next to nothing to do with 40k non of the characters and npcs don't act like there from 40k non of the weapons act like there from the 40k universe, its got worse connectivity than black ops, is shit even for a fan-boy and the sooner you all realise that the better all our lives will be.
i give it a 7.5 i LOVED THE STORY, no really, it was good. not to mention the fact that it made you feel like a badass stomping around with the agility of a merecat but the strength of an ox, this is feeling no other games can present, eg assasins creed your only agile, not an overpowering screen shaking strength ridden badass. that and the multiplayer was a blast, played approx 25 hours of mutiplayer. not to mention that i am a wargamer, and probs enjoyed this more than the average joe would.
Actually the gears of wars series was inspired by this because space marine 40k series have been around much longer. Just a heads up so you don't get trolled later on.
it's a shame the multiplayer didnt have more races however, since the many varying races of warhammer have always been the appealing side of the franchise

A marine is like two feet taller than a COG soldier. Their armor and weapons are nothing alike. @Arkaeya Greco-Roman architecture crops up alot in Warhammer 40k. The Iron Snakes and Ultramarines Space Marine Chapters for instance take alot of visual style and cultural similarity from the ancient Greeks and Romans. Other worlds and cultures of the Imperium outside of Ithaka and Macragge also use alot of ancient inspired architecture.

@Arkaeya The point of 40k's Architecture is to combine ancient grandeur with sci fi grittiness. Take Forge World Graia for example. It is essentially a planet sized Temple to the Adeptus Mechanicus' Machine God. Manufactorum Ajakis is as humbling and awe inspiring as any ancient temple but its purpose is the construction of God Machines capable of levelling continents. I felt the Ancient/Sci fi feel that is very unique to 40k as soon as I played Gears of War 1/2 especially in Ephyra and Jacinto.

@MrCasquitos You missed the first post. The guy said these graphics look like PS2 graphics. I said he should look at games like God of War 2 on the PS2, games that were considered to have great graphics at the time, and realize that his statement wasn't even close to true. In fact, this game's visuals are quite good, though indeed not groundbreaking by any means.
Actually the cuts scenes are far and in between. I remember one gaming session going longer than plan because I wanted to get to the next cutscene. Also they don't interrupt the flow of the game, instead they do a good job of delivering context for the game (as all good cutscene must).
Great game and if you are a fan of 40k you will love it.
P.S.:Any WH40K fan has to admit that Captain Titus is the nicest Ultramarine that ever existed!
This game has a lot of issues, for ps3 the mp didn't work for weeks on release, for xbox the dlc has been majorly delayed, and at least in Australia the mp can be laggy and unpredictable. I don't regret buying this, but I really wish thq had taken a note out of naughty dogs book and published a really polished and flawless game :(
@smilesthroughtheshit Space Marine Captains like Titus get access to special wargear called the Iron Halo that is essentially a forcefield for the head. Leandros starts the game with a helmet but it gets damaged and he has to remove it. Sidonus doesn't wear a helmet because he is badass, same goes for Titus. Its also to taunt the enemy and to distinguish the leaders of the Space Marines in battle to their own men just like in the Middle Ages. Its just that the Space Marines are that badass.
@smilesthroughtheshit Most Space Marines have helmets. Captains like Titus forgoe helmets in order to mark themselves out to their enemies and have a forcefield for their heads called an Iron Halo.

I almost finished it and i really like it(sync kills are awesome,every wep has 2 different ones and 1 general for all of them,sync kills are different for orcs,chaos and demons), a lot of melee and ranged weapons(from bolt pistol to storm bolter and plasma gun) and the story is good too !
this review reviewed the game wrong... the cutscenes are good, and they are their for good reason, to direct the play, and give a scence of acheivement. he mentioned all sorts of problems and bugs, the only one i have is when im walking along and thier is some tiny peaice of cover and i can get past it since thier is no just....only a jump pack that sends me right into the sky, i noticed no polishing issues.... the only problem is the way you heal... thats it.
Lol, if you don't like CoD thats fine, I hate it as well, but to whine about how they always give it a 10/10 and give other "unique" games lower scores, is just sad...I think they did a solid review of this game, I like it a lot, but the combat gets repetitive, the graphics/gameplay bug up a bit, and once you hit level 41 in multiplayer, theirs not much left to do...that should change this tuesday with Exterminatus DLC though :)
Why the fuck is everyone calling the Exterminatus mode survival? It's fucking EXTARMINATUS. Meaning you're killing the aliens, not trying to survive them.
I just don't get IGN. They gripe endlessly about tiny details of good, well-developed games that satisfy gamers, and then turn around and give good reviews to games that even THEY admit aren't nearly as good as they should be.
I honestly don't see any issues with things stuck in the environment, as for open areas with no enemies its meant to build up the awe of the world. Next time I hope they pick someone who will take their time before reviewing a game.

@MrCasquitos You missed the first post. The guy said these graphics look like PS2 graphics. I said he should look at games like God of War 2 on the PS2, games that were considered to have great graphics at the time, and realize that his statement wasn't even close to true. In fact, this game's visuals are quite good, though indeed not groundbreaking by any means.

Actually the cuts scenes are far and in between. I remember one gaming session going longer than plan because I wanted to get to the next cutscene. Also they don't interrupt the flow of the game, instead they do a good job of delivering context for the game (as all good cutscene must).
Great game and if you are a fan of 40k you will love it.
P.S.:Any WH40K fan has to admit that Captain Titus is the nicest Ultramarine that ever existed!

This game has a lot of issues, for ps3 the mp didn't work for weeks on release, for xbox the dlc has been majorly delayed, and at least in Australia the mp can be laggy and unpredictable. I don't regret buying this, but I really wish thq had taken a note out of naughty dogs book and published a really polished and flawless game :(

@smilesthroughtheshit Space Marine Captains like Titus get access to special wargear called the Iron Halo that is essentially a forcefield for the head. Leandros starts the game with a helmet but it gets damaged and he has to remove it. Sidonus doesn't wear a helmet because he is badass, same goes for Titus. Its also to taunt the enemy and to distinguish the leaders of the Space Marines in battle to their own men just like in the Middle Ages. Its just that the Space Marines are that badass.

I almost finished it and i really like it(sync kills are awesome,every wep has 2 different ones and 1 general for all of them,sync kills are different for orcs,chaos and demons), a lot of melee and ranged weapons(from bolt pistol to storm bolter and plasma gun) and the story is good too !

this review reviewed the game wrong... the cutscenes are good, and they are their for good reason, to direct the play, and give a scence of acheivement. he mentioned all sorts of problems and bugs, the only one i have is when im walking along and thier is some tiny peaice of cover and i can get past it since thier is no just....only a jump pack that sends me right into the sky, i noticed no polishing issues.... the only problem is the way you heal... thats it.

Lol, if you don't like CoD thats fine, I hate it as well, but to whine about how they always give it a 10/10 and give other "unique" games lower scores, is just sad...I think they did a solid review of this game, I like it a lot, but the combat gets repetitive, the graphics/gameplay bug up a bit, and once you hit level 41 in multiplayer, theirs not much left to do...that should change this tuesday with Exterminatus DLC though :)

I honestly don't see any issues with things stuck in the environment, as for open areas with no enemies its meant to build up the awe of the world. Next time I hope they pick someone who will take their time before reviewing a game.
