For those of you who think this wasn't a good performance, I've never sang outside in the cold, but I've played an instrument outside in the cold, and it is not easy. I think they did will considering the conditions.
I think Susan and Amber did a great job of singing. They had been up since dawn for sound checks. They were singing out doors on a cool windy day, nevertheless, they sounded great!
Well done Amber! This must have been "scary" to say the least as the expectations are so high when you sing with Susan...but you did it!!!! All the best with your career...I will watch this space...
I really like Susan Boyle but that was awful... I mean if anyone could be a megastar and only sing like that, we all would be famous! I like the cd-version and they may be nervous but sorry this was crap...
I agree that they were both off key. It seems like SB has "frog in the throat" problems. She needs to get with someone to figure out how to prevent that during her performances.
As unpopular as this comment is going to be....(1) I really like the two of them together, and (2) I thought Amber actually sounded better than Susan on this one. Susan's voice on this song and all the others in this appearance was unusually flat. I don't know if she was nervous, tired, or if something else was going on, but Susan's voice is usually so much more rich than it is here. It can't be the cold because the kids are singing just fine. maybe she needs a better vocal coach...I don't know.
Of course they were cold singing outside in very cold temps, but did you notice that Amber puts her finger in her ear on Susan's side when they sing the three word duet, "silver and gold". ???
@catenadine Putting your finger in your ear is an usual tactic when you need to hear your own voice, especially if two people are singing together and one is doing voice A and the other is doing voice B, like in the last part of this song. Only with a lot of training you can learn not to cover your ear. I'm assuming that Amber has less vocal training. BTW, you can see her doing the same on footage of the recording of the song. But many singer do it. There is nothing wrong with that.
the cold weather has nothing to do with it. They are singing from the the throat not the diaphram. they are basically screaming.Pushing, forcing and pinching the note.Susan needs to get a better vocal coach.
We LOVE Ms. Susan Boyle :)
