@sharppointy1 Its usually not so terrifying untill they look back at it and say "Holy Crap! That was close!!" He will go over it in his head again and again! No matter what any of the firemen on here say, that one wasn't normal! That doesn't happen every day. When I was 5, we had a house fire. Our beautiful never forgotten dog was trapped at the top of the house, behind the fire. A fireman, an angel went into the fire & carried him out. The dog was so scared he had frozen in the room & wet himself when the fireman carried him down. He was a pitbul mix, a big dog. A beautiful friendly member of my family till the end :)

I want to thank that fireman where ever u are, THANK YOU for being so brave, u r an angel, our dog brought us so many years of joy x

@garycalgary I know hey i hate it when ppl call hockey, football or anyother sports athletes "Heros"!! like really, all they do is run around and make millions. when emergency crews do it for like $30,000-$40,000 a year and save countless lives!! ya some athletes have crazy background stories but come on! @drummer12345654321 Because the air tank is rated for 30 mins of breathing and once you get to physical exsertion it cuts that down to probably only 20 mins. After that there is no more air so the mask is more a hindrance than help.

@Comil1983 Oh here in NZ, we're taught never to remove our B.A mask until you get out, even after you've run out of air.. Cause if you breathe in the super heated atmosphere, it just destroys your lungs and there's no chance of being revived.

@usarmyboy8 In NZ we're taught to keep your mask on no matter what. Cause if you breath in the superheated gasses in the atmosphere in, you'll die with no chance of reviving you. But if you suffocate from lack of air your lungs wont be fried. But I guess anywhere you go you'll be taught differently

@drummer12345654321 It used to be where you could remove the hose from the bottle and put the open end in your coat. Now with the new set up, the best is to take the regulator off and stay close to the ground and get the best air. Suffocation still causes as much brian damage as smoke inhalation. The lungs may be okay when you pass out, but the brian gets fried either way. I'd rather take my chances with 3% good air with no pacepiece, than 0% good air with a facepiece on. Hard choices.

i dont think he paniced or was frelancing, in a zero visablility high heat envronment its easy to get separtated especially it a house like that that is probly all chopped up. he appeared to be calm and did just what he is suposed to do, find air, and await a rescue, no jumping no yelling, just patiently waiting for a ladder. bravo
