I just got my second hedgehog a week ago and his name was spike. I already have a bearded dragon named spike so I renamed him Sonic because thats what everyone always asked me if that was what they were named. Terrible but hey it happens

hmm not sure most hamster cages are made of plastic so i wou;d have to say no. maybe search hedgehog cages on ebay then u can get a used cage that was used for a hedgehog so u kno its safe and its cheaper

there is hedgehog food, though not a huge selection, and my hedgehog didn't even like the stuff. catfood is a common substitute, though you have to look at the nutritional values; you'll be surprised how many bags of catfood i had to check before i found a good one.

yeah i use pretty pets hedgehog food but i mix it with cat food my hedgehog seems to like the cat food

I tried that, too (and with the exact same hedgehog food, as well). But my hedgehog was such a picky eater and a stubborn little thing; she would eat all the cat food and leave the hedgehog food. I think she liked the chicken flavour. I even tried leaving the hedgehog food in the dish (thinking she'd eat when she got hungry), but I swear she would've rather starved then eat it. I was forced to just stick with cat food.

Try a pet store, Some places also ship but most ship 8-10 months because of the amount of stress for the hedgehog.You can order them offline, but it's not safe and it's terribly cruel to do that.I suggest a pet store! =)

Using a small kitty nail clipper. Cut only the tips of the nails. Cut only the ones that are long. Not all the nails will need to be cut. Watch out of the quick the pickish vain in the nail. Have some septic powder on hand in case there is some bleeding.

You can also place a brick in the cage to wear down your hedgehogs nails but you will still have to check the nails as well.

they are naturally nocturnal i think. but some have been known to be diurnal. so, just let it sleep.

I suppose it just depends on the hedgie. Mine likes to cuddle and relax at night. If I get him out during the day he is quite playful and a handful!

How do you train your hedgehog to use the litter box. I am getting a hedgehog in three days and I want to be sure she will use the litterbox.

First let your hedgehog pick an area of the cage for his toilet and then place a heavy container down in the area. Place some of his droppings in the container and hope for the best. Not all hedgehogs will use a litter box. Please remember to use Care Fresh or Aspen Shavings for bedding and not real kitty litter in the litter box.
