Oh and I'm that the creator of this video doesn't care to look at these hateful comments that everyone else puts up. I don't, no one I know does. So unless the creator of this video asks for comments, they aren't going to spend time staring at this junk, when common sense dictates that they have better things to do, or even accomplish. Just a reminder. If you even bothered to look at this. And if anyone does, they will just hate on me, because I know the nature of the internet. And you all know
Yes, it may seem gross, and yes, it does have many non-Korean ingredients, and I don't care if you hate it. But before you send hate messages, I just advise that you look this up in more detail. Ignorance is disrespectful to those you hurt. Remember that!
The dish is actually called "budae jjigae", which translates to "army stew" or "army base stew" from Korean to English. After the Korean War, there was massive starvation in South Korea. Us Americans set up military bases to protect the ROK from other skirmishes with the DPRK. The U.S. gave surplus food to the hungry, but this often included American food & ingredients that Koreans had never used before. So, budae jjigae was born. This is simply what they made to use up the surplus food. Yes, i
I'm totally judging you right now..do you really call this kimchi jjigae? First of all, you're supposed to stop stirring when the tofu is in because when your stir the tofu it breaks. Second of all, there's way to many ingredients and not enough broth...and third of all, if you plan on teaching people how to make it, i suggest you learn to make it the correct way yourself. Good day.
ive seen my mom add sugar to kimchi jjigae before, and other moms too so i dont think thats a big deal but yes, like everyone else below me has said, this is not at all what kimchi jjigae looks like. ive never seen such an ugly kimchi jjigae before. like i said in my other comments, her korean pronunciation is horrible and by that alone, i question her ability to cook authentic korean food and this video proves she cant because this is one of the most popular and SIMPLEST korean foods.
I dont know what Korean person you know, but that is ER SURE not what it looks like So dont tell people thats what it is. Kimchi Jjigae is a popular korean food, and very delicous
Expertvillage: I think that one video showing the making of this and other dishes is plenty. Cutting the video into so many parts makes for difficult viewing, especially if they aren't titled part 1, 2, etc. Appreciate the effort to show this recipe, though,

I'm pretty shocked that sugar and untraditional ingredients are added into this dish. I guess different taste for different folks.

adding kimchee to what looks like a western-style stew does not make this "kimchee jjigae".

I've never seen my mom add sugar before.
But I guess it's different if you're not Korean and you're not used to the taste of Kimchi..
