I love this version as well as Sarah Brightman's "Figlio Perduto" which was based on the poem. This one has more a feeling of urgency and emotion, as if actually riding on the horse, whereas Brightman's is more enchanting.

I love it.

Whose orchestration? Is this the Berlioz version? I'm not partial to it, especially the doublings. The sound is pretty bad as well. However, well sung, and well played despite the poor orchestration.

the father's voice is low and gruff, the elf king is high and musical and ominously sweet, and the child's is slow and sleepy, growing into shrill with terror. What a great way of expressing emotions in music.
