@XxMusIcObsEsSiOnxX You can start dancing for fun whenever you want, but at your age you cant expect a professional career in ballet, unless you have an insane amount of time, focus and of course a good teacher. Ballet is more like a lifestyle than a hobby.

@bluesygo -- I do not agree. When I was small, I would always make the right positions, and people would say I was a ballet dancer. It was natural for me. I am now 24, I have never had any lessons of any kind and can dance ballet at a basic level having simply practiced on my own... Do not ever think that you must have lessons, some people do not have access to them, if they are too poor or in a rural place...what can they do? learn from videos and tutorials perhaps.... :)

I certanly do recommend that you take lessons.You can try to do it on your own, but you will need a teacher who can correct you. otherwise your tecnique will be very bad(I'm sorry for all the people who are doing it on their own and I'm also sorry for the bad spelling)

Don't worry. I started lessons at 15 years old. I'm 17 now and very good. So you can do anything. It just takes a year or so to get it right, then once youve got that year over with, another 2 and you'll be en pointe :)

it would take a lot of extensive research and dedication to try to master ballet without a teacher, i would strongly recommend finding a school. you could always begin a new style of dance based on what you learn from youtube? and 13 is just fine to start learning, the sooner the better, but hey its never too late!

I recommend doing recreational, I'm starting this summer and I'll be 16. :) Just keep following your dreams! Also, you really shouldn't teach yourself ballet. Teaching yourself ballet can lead to incorrect technique that can be very difficult to correct. Have fun. :)

If you allow me, I'd just like to tell you to improve your back flexibility between the shoulder blades. You can already tell a lot with your body. Please don't misunderstand me. A good example for the back motions gives Polina Semionova in the video of Grönemeyer (Uz2Gp7a38DM). You perhaps already know it! It's not too much, I think it's just enough to feel what she wants us to feel. Bravo again for your performance!!!
