in heartgold i had croconaw out for the gengar, and i switched into eevee lvl 8 and he mean looked and we could NOT HURT EACH OTHER, so i used sand attack. eventually it struggled to death, so a lvl 8 eevee defeated a lvl 25 gengar

Heh I got a Magby from my crystal too :P I wish it was a Pichu though but at the time I didn't realize the egg hatched into more than 1 pokemon (I played crystal when it first came out so I was about 9 years old so I wasn't too into researching before I played :P

...Morty was the first person I lost to in my current save file...but, fortunately, I had my beast of a level 18 Vulpix, and level 16 Eevee to save the day. I'm not even kidding, Eevee's state reducing moves and Vulpix's attract won the whole gym for me. I found it really funny.

I remember when I had only my HM slave sentret left against gengar in heartgold and because he used all his sucker punches, he couldn't hit sentret and sentret was able to finish gengar thanks to foresight.

O.o I was playing along with soulsilver, and I got to a point where both the gym leader and I had one pokemon. The gym leaders pokemon gengar, mine eevee. Eevee withstood all the attacks and pulled off a dark horse victory with gengar having to use struggle. My eevee was lv. 12 at the time. 0.o

I wish I would've seen this "Let's Play" when you made it. On my Crystal Version, my egg also hatched a Magby... but not just any Magby! A SHINY MAGBY!!! I used it in my party, never evolved it. It was my only shiny pokemon in the game! In any of them actually. I own all the handheld ones lol.

Because it's Ghost type. Whether a move was special or physical was based off type. It wasn't until Diamond and Pearl that the Physical / Special split happened, in which it was based off the move itself. Of course, it is still bizarre that Ghost would be a physical type.

I always remember the types that were formerly all special by Eeveelutions + Dragon. The seven types of the Eeveelutions, plus Dragon, were the eight special types. All others were physical.

you can actually defeat morty's gengar with a lv 15 stantler in the remake

gengars method of attacking is only ghost type and doesnt effect stantler because he is normal type and also he also have leer and astonish lure down his defense and you astonish XD

True story: I was battling this gym the other day on my HeartGold game, and his Gengar knocked out both my Flaaffy and Heracross with Shadow Ball. So I sent out Eevee to wall him for a bit while I healed Flaaffy, but he wound up Mean Looking my Eevee. XD So I decided to Sand Attack it and other Status conditions until Eevee could faint. Well, since neither Pokemon could hit each other, Gengar wound up Struggling to death in the end. Took forever, but it was funny.
