As a progressive rock fan, I loved this song in my teens...nice to be able to hear it again, thanks for posting! Wish that 12-string sound would return. I used a Byrds style 12-string electric on my Gandhi music video.
found this tresor a few years back by accident and loved the close harmony songs also the guitars. will order also the new record "Safe At Home". Didn't read or heard about this gr8 band in my younger days...but i live in Belgium, haha !
Again...as a kid in early 70's the local hippie college radio station in DC (WGTB) at Georgetown U would play this song regularly and I just love the hell out it. It transformed and transcended me and still does.
Wow I was shocked to find this band on here. Thanks for posting it! I have been searching for "Class of 2000". I was like 11 when my step dad brought this album home. Very cool!!!
to those of you who are interested in hearing more of Space Opera's music, you can go to amazon.com and look up the band's new album "Safe at Home" as well as their other two self-titled albums. "Safe at Home" isn't truly a new album, but it features many tracks that weren't released on their other albums. if you're interested in hearing more of Scott Fraser's solo music, you can find a website on google by searching 'scott fraser oannes music'. it'll be the first hit you see.
I have this album on vinyl. Every song is great. "Blue Ridge Mountains" reminds me of when Gene Clark was with The Byrds. Nice Rickenbacker 12-string work throughout. As far as I know, this is the only album recorded by this Texas band. Scott Frazer (Lead Vocals and 12-string on "Holy River") put out some solo material that is also very good.
I just bought the album on vinyl, having no idea what it was. What a great album it turned out to be! It went straight into my collection and will stay there forever. Get it while you can. Every track is great, I especially like "My telephone artist" on side two (although I have no idea what the lyric is about). My best buy in many a year. Best wishes from Sweden.
they're style felt like the Byrds with a bit of early Steely Dan. Very mesmerizing. Always takes me back to my hippie-teen days and makes me smile with a tear of nostalgia
Thanks for posting this. One of my all time favorite 12string songs. We use to play the opening track , Country Max, back in the seventies. I tried to convince my bandmates then to attempt this song. They refused. But guess what, we got back together after 34 years and we are in the process of putting this one together. I still have the original album and the CD. Can anbody post some live performances by the group? Thanks again
THanks for posting this AGAIN! My hippie Georgetown Univ. independent radio station would play this in the early 70's. it always transports me. Heavenly
Excellent groupe; une musique qui nous fait voyager agréablement dans le temps: la période Woodstock...

Yep, the album's a goodie. Byrds/Crosby Stills stuck through the prog blender. Good singin', good playin'...as someone once said.

Until yesterday I had never heard of this band. This track was played on Stuart Maconie's Freak Zone, BBC Radio 6. This track is excellent.

If you want to hear similar music check out Pinback. It definitely has a similar feel to it. Especially the bass and guitar patterns.

Great fuzzed out 12 string tuned to 5th's at the end. So obscure these guys invented their own genre: country prog.

Yeah, I dig the 12-string sound. It is very BYRDS-ish as another comment said. Kind of like the Reunion album sound. Cool progressive tune as well.
