great video and very nice shoutout to the great ralfy indeed! i live up in newfoundland canada and unfortunately we only have a very limited selection of irish whiskey and scotch up here but I do enjoy the choices we do have lol
If you like or love the Redbreast 12 year old, the Redbreast 15 year old is making its debut in the United States after getting a limited edition release around 2005 in Europe (Midleton actually made it for the French market but a few bottles wound up in the UK and other places).
also, as of now there are actually 4 working distilleries in Ireland. Kilbeggan started distilling again in 2007 and they've just released a few test tubes of their developing spirit a month or two ago. There's also a 5th one being built down in Dingle through the financial backing of the porterhouse brewing company. Kilbeggan are aiming to make a light single malt while the dingle group are actually looking to make both a single malt and a pure pot still expression.
@IAmWanderingAengus, true and thanks for pointing it out, though Kilbeggan is owned by Cooley so I was counting it as part of the Cooley distillery family.
@whiskeyminute I think it's wirht adding, without wanting to confuse anyone more, that calling Irish Whiskies like Jameson or Powers blends is not meant in the same sense as say, a Johnny Walker blend. Scottish blends are generally a mix of column still grain whiskey and a range of malt whiskey from many distilleries. Most Irish Whiskey is Single Distillery Whiskey and is never mixed with whiskey from other distilleries.
There's lots of good Irish Whiskey out there. For something more affordable, I like Black Bush, Kilbeggan and Michael Collins (blended is cheaper than the single malt).
nice. i did a blind taste test with jameson, bushmills and red breast. check out my channel... called "Irish Whiskey A Go Go"...

I wish I could get Redbreast 12 for $30! It's more in the $40-$50 range up here in Minnesota!

I couldn't take my eyes off the Four Roses single barrel. As a Kentucky boy I love a good bourbon. Good work on the video.

excellent review! just a friendly correction, "uisce beatha" is pronounced like "ish-ka ba-ha" in Irish

The Redbreast is excellent, although about $45 where I live. Keep the recommendations coming.
