Every single one of you are wrong. I am a volunteer for WDCS in Alabama. Many sperm whales in the summer suffer from heat strokes because they sun bathe too much. They can do this in the Pacific and Atlantic because of the water temperature, but not in the Gulf of Mexico (which is why so many end up dead on beaches in Central America) These gentleman may have actually saved this whale's life by getting him to move. I saw no aggressive or malicious action by these men. Oh by the way America>World

you shouldn't provoke sperm whales like that. They have been known to sink large wooden vessels and damage metal ones with its battering ram. They can actually get pretty aggressive.

So you might have stopped before you "drove" over the whale, but it was still the momentum of your boat , even without the engine running, that caused you to to drive over the whale. He might have moved but i think (and it looks like it in this video) that you ran him over.

it has been a few months since I looked at the comments on this video and it amazes me how people can be so upset about this. It is still obvious in the video that the whale came to them just as much as they went to it in the boat. it didnt get hurt and wasnt going to. i also still find it interesting that people who hunt and fish actually give more time and money to wildlife conservation efforts than the people who waste their time complaininng about stuff like this. Yeh OK I would have a look to but "jump on him"??? and more importantly that boat had a prop. A blender for a flesh and blood creature. As spermwhales go that one was tiny (If it was a spermwhale.) It was a toother whale though.
A little less noise and that video would have been awsome; and the guys on the boat may have got more out of it.

Some dudes fishing got to see a sperm whale, moved in for a closer look, whale left. Boat bumped whale as he submerged. Big deal...I saw no harpoons or spades. i'm not mad at all. there's nothing wrong with having a good time, but when your out in an environment like the ocean you should treat it with a little respect. all i said they had was a boat (did you watch the video, i'm pretty sure they are in a boat). and all i said they didn't have is respect for where they were and what they were doing. it's plain to see they were moving and the whale was not, therefore they hit the whale, which was completely unnecessary.

It's the moving in for a closer look, which was disrespectful. Whales are protected by law whether you respect them or not. The video clearly shows them motor straight at the whale with plenty of time to vear. A little rudder action would've been nice. A prop or hull is every bit as dangerous as a harpoon. & the concern voiced about hitting it was in reference to not tipping the boat. Environazi? shut up? grow up,, name calling is juvenile
