I being American have to agree with you. It has alot to do with television and what the media feeds the people and I feel that definitely has a huge influence and impact on what we know as far as outside of the states. Africa espeically. I feel the U.S. alot of the times purposely disregard what's going on in Africa because it's like they dont want U.S. people to see that it's alot of beautiful things going on over there but I got a good feeling that the U.S. Media/TV is soon about to change.
