As I understand it, Discovery will be taken to the National Air & Space Museum annex in Dulles, VA, to be put on display. Originally, Columbia was supposed to go there. Discovery, as the oldest and most traveled ship in the fleet, will be displayed in it's place.

@dj17q Various museums and research agencies are clamoring for them. I think Endeavour is bound for a museum in either Huntsville, AL or Cape Canaveral. Atlantis is wanted by a research-park/university in California. Many of that place's experiments and projects flew on Atlantis over the years; Big A has long a connection with the place.

Now that the flights of the Space Shuttle are drawing to a conclusion I can't help feeling as if I am still mourning the loss of the two shuttle crews and even the loss of Gus Grissom and the Apollo crew back in 1967. The next objective should be to colonize the cosmos. This is the only objective worthy of tribute to the memory of these brave space pioneers.
