If you're tired of "Left" and "Right" politics then help support Independent Jason Howell running for Virginia's 8th Congressional District. This is a national campaign to elect one Independent to the House of Representatives. Currently there are zero.
The funny thing about this is that it's always a Republican that gets this treatment with one big difference. The Republican always ends up on the networks then is destroyed followed by losing his next election.
The biggest WELFARE program is CORPORATE WELFARE. EVERY years for many many years HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS have been handed out to large corporations in the form of exemptions, deductions, incentives and free services. I worked for the sixth largest US corporation that paid NO TAXES AT ALL in the last four out of five years they were in business and in 2000 they were the NUMBER ONE supporter of...GEORGE BUSH. BUSH started a war to help them and we paid for it.
@prrolg Sadly you are partially right. The Dems might do well to learn from the repukes how to obstruct the will of the people and the BUSH White House most ASSUREDLY controls HOW money is spent and to some extent on what. So if I understand you then Reaganomics wasn't Reagans at ALL but the DEMOCRATS who controlled Congress at the time. The Dems should have obstructed him too...oh wait, they DID on Iran/Contra and Reagan sold drugs to fund fascist terrorist who raped and murdered nuns.
@exenrontexas The dems could learn by how Republicans in congress stopped Clinton from spending us into a quasi European socialist utopia. And you could learn that Reaganomics wasn't a policy but a term used by socialist teachers to instruct dummies like you. And that US backed efforts in Latin America were aimed at stopping leftist murderers, assassins, totalitarians and backstabbers backed, funded and otherwise supported by the Soviet Union in order to destoy American influence in the Americas
.....One more thing. If you don't think democrats were supportive of a war against Saddaam Hussein you can be excused. Because by some magic every democrat I ever knew believes that the war was created by GWB alone with democrats opposed. It is a magic trick that democrats manage to pull off continually that keeps people voting for them. And the poor who vote overwhelmingly democrat remain poor perpetually and will continue to do so it seems.

@krgolfr4 Get real. The "news" media were all over the Bush administration like a cheap suit. Mattera is just doing their job for them now, since they seem to have lost their curiosity.
If you want to be told what to do and how to live at the barrel of a gun, then keep arguing with each other and let the progressives do what they do, if not then find commen ground and vote both sets of bums out of office.
The arguments on here are great examples of the real problems. If both dems and rupublican supporters would just step back and see that both parties are the problem. If Americans would hold to the values that founded this country and formed our constitution and hold our elected leaders to them regardless of an R or a D behind there name, we would be in much better shape.
Jason, you rock dude. Cant wait to read your book. Keep doing a great job man and help open the eyes of your generation. Maybe they will come our of their zombie state (of mind).
Actually, since billions were ";spent" in districts that don't exist, that's FEDERAL RACKETEERING, not "waste". "Waste" isn't a federal crime. However, BILLIONS of dollars unaccounted for, as is the case here even by government's piss-poor accounting methods, is FEDERAL RACKETEERING.
If the FBI doesn't indict all 535 of them under the RICO statutes, then the US military needs to perform its sworn duty and reestablish a LEGITIMATE federal government.
Yes you do care which party it is. You're lying when you say you don't. All this spending does concern me. I just find it amusing that republicans weren't outraged when Bush was doing all the spending. You're an individual compounded by a low level of intelligence with no sense of how moronic you sound. Stimulus= billions in waste of taxpayer dollars. @shalcall $6.4 Billion in Porkulus to Phantom Districts = 'Clerical Error'
Mattera was questioning how money got sent to non-existent districts. This wasn't the only state that had this problem BTW. So, where did the money actually end up? Sounds like a reasonable question to me.
@mcv47 That is a reasonable question. That's not how Mattera came across. He came across like Michael Moore attacking a CEO for an accounting error that he knows little about.
And to answer his question is that stimulus money was doled out by project, not by district. After a project was approved the project filled out paper work including detailing which congressional district they were in. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't know what congressional district they live in. Clerical error.
@shalcall However, there were nearly 450 of these phantom districts, (More than $2 million was given to the 99th District of North Dakota, a state that has only one congressional district. New Mexico found that $26 million in stimulus money had been distributed to 13 congressional districtsten more than the state actually has.) These sound like a little more than clerical errors. Must admit, I don't know what district I'm in but I would look it up if I applied for funds.
@mcv47 450 sounds like a big number until you look at the forest instead of the trees. There are currently 63,144 stimulus projects totaling $191.53 Billion. IF you have 450 projects who filled out their form incorrectly, you're talking about 0.7%
You admitted yourself that you don't know your district off the top of your head, and I certainly don't know mine. Is it really a stretch to think that less than 0.7% of the projects screwed up their paperwork? I'm surprised it's not more.
@shalcall But your representatives in Washington ought to know how many there are in their respective states, no? The point isn't whether .7% is surprising. The point is that its unacceptable.
@TheTypicalGirl It's unacceptable that thousands of different people filling out paperwork are right 99.3% of the time. They have to be perfect? Please show me one organization, public or private, that fills out paperwork perfectly 100% of the time. You have got to be kidding me.

@itisme246 No, it wasn't Iraq's money. It was U.S. tax payer money, 363 TONS of newly printed, shrink-wrapped $100 bills flown to Baghdad, supposedly to meet payrolls of Iraqi ministries working with us. However, it disappeared. Where were the Teaparty protests when that happened?
@itisme246 The cashed was shipped sometime between May 2003 and June 2004. It was revealed to the public in a house oversight committee report in 2007.

@mcv47 i swear to god i'm conservative. i just think we should rise above cheap tactics. william f. buckley convinced more people with his thoughts and civility than this guy ever could by ambushing people.
One might be able to cut some slack for a "clerical error". There seem to be lots and lots of these kind of errors, however. Four hundred and forty districts that don't exist received a total of $6.4 billion dollars. That is one big ass clerical error. What really happened with the money?
LOL. I love it. Jason pretends to be a constituent from a non-existent district, and dumbass Moran goes along with it, enthusiastically, until Jason exposes that no such district exists, and then things switch, and Moran is attacked!
Absolutely amazing. $6.4 Billion is a clerical error? These people really hate being shown for the looters they really are. Kudos to Mattera, keep up the good work!

@mcv47 i swear to god i'm conservative. i just think we should rise above cheap tactics. william f. buckley convinced more people with his thoughts and civility than this guy ever could by ambushing people.

The USA is Animal Farm animated to real life. Everyone is equal except PIGS like Moran who are more equal than you.

I'm tempted to misspell the congressman's last name. Well, it is April Fool's Day.

One might be able to cut some slack for a "clerical error". There seem to be lots and lots of these kind of errors, however. Four hundred and forty districts that don't exist received a total of $6.4 billion dollars. That is one big ass clerical error. What really happened with the money?

I love the fact that Jason doesn't back down. Even after the 'Congressman' almost physically attacks him.
"Hey, I'm not the one wasting tax-payer dollars!!"
I laughed out loud.

It's completely racist to ask questions about fraud and abuse in government. Totally, incredible, assiduously racist.

LOL. I love it. Jason pretends to be a constituent from a non-existent district, and dumbass Moran goes along with it, enthusiastically, until Jason exposes that no such district exists, and then things switch, and Moran is attacked!
Don't let up, Jason!
:A clerical error."
God, save us, from these Democrats!!

Absolutely amazing. $6.4 Billion is a clerical error? These people really hate being shown for the looters they really are. Kudos to Mattera, keep up the good work!
