hehe, given its likely to be a very heavy particle it matches the DR well! the DR would definitely be a heavy beast as it reached light speed.... i think i'd prefer to call it the tevatron 650 instead of the LHC650.
Why spend a billion dollars on a hadron collider. All you need is 2 dr650se's ($15000) and a 1/4 mile of runway. The 1/4 mile strip will allow both bikes to accelerate to the speed of light before colliding with each other head on, Fortunately no damage will incur as these bikes are virtually indestructible. Scientists will, however, have finally discovered the god particle. Higgs Boson = DR650se. Life is DR, baby
Wouln't it be great if a company like Rickman built a lightweight frame and front forks that would accept the DR650 motor? Imagine a bike with the torque and dependability of the DR650 in a bike 40-50 lbs. lighter. What a ride!

sitting on a DR650 will also increase penile width by at least 15%, enlarge pectoral muscles by 40% and enlarge gonads by 92%. braided stainless steel underpants are definitely recommended for extra support.
@dupper26 far as i know he's left it completely stock with the gearing, jets, the works. ive never learned wheelies but think its the usual throttle off and weight forward to compress the springs, then crack the throttle and pull back on the bars. all seems to be in the timing, at least with motherships like the DR.
Really nice video. A bit more entertaining than the average "herp derp here's my bike let me walk around it while it's idling" video. The different camera angles helped out with diversifying the presentation.
Anyway, I think I'm going to pick one of these up as my dual sport bike to travel cross country with. Not really into cruisers, and I'd like to take the back roads, if you know what I mean. Hell yeah.
Whatever man, I just got an 08 dr650 and it is slow as hell, my old 450x would eat this thing for lunch in any kind of contest you can come up with. Accept possibly miles between fill ups.
a dr650 slow as hell? impossible! check to see if your engine is seized perhaps? we did line up a duel with the 450x but the DR's roosting totally ruined the 450x plastics. ;-)
Tried a pumper carb but had to remove it. Rear tyre was only lasting 5 miles before all the knobs were ripped off (if it didn't break the chain first), and it was flipping way too easily in top gear.
Yes the mighty dr 650! I have had a dr 650, 2x klr 650's and now the yammy tenere 660 I recon the dr had more punch and handled better, but the klr comes out the winner! After the Flinder's ra, Arnhemland , Broome , around NSW and the whole Gt divide from the first bumps in western Vic to the tip, I think it's the klr by a whisker! Get a tenere for the desert,it's a little heavy for the mountains .but hey!!.YOU GUYS CAN RIDE!!
the KLR would certainly be a safer bike, as it is less inclined to fishtail uncontrollably in fifth gear and threaten to flip when you crack the throttle open.
I'v killed seven drop bears with my bare hand's before, yet I don't believe that I have the nad's for suzie's finest creation....one day..........god willing.
@HarlemSessions i've been getting nad injections but they still aren't big enough. i'm just lucky these guys let me film them. if jesus was a dirt rider the DR would be his bike.
@bandguy360 totally different engine. although max power is about the same as the DRZ, the DR has all the power down low. its really just a tractor so pulls much higher gearing than the DRZ as a result.
it might be powerful and all that, but it'll never be the best, not to mention the looks of this thing

I really dont see it having bulk power , but reliability is awesome , as is long distance comfort & lots of very cheap fun .
If you want power and reliability try the (no longer made) XR650R

@curly27784
true, but the anything less than the steel girders used would just buckle and fold every time you wound all that power on
secretgardenproject 5 months ago
@curly27784 well duh - try CCM from the UK - psses all over the DR running gear.

@motomartin
nothing, i mean NOTHING pisses on the mighty DR. even if another brand could, the DR is resistant to uric acid.

LOL, 5 miles... DAMNED, THAT'S GOOD!!!
How'd you get them to last that long???
yulesamhain 7 months ago
@yulesamhain
we capped each knob with titanium plating, it would last five miles before melting under the non-stop wheel spinning.
