Even though I don't usually identify with music like this (normally I need a vocal, maybe a harp, a fast acoustic guitar and some jazzy drums) you really succeed in making this interesting and fascinating. Thank you sir..
Thats such a nice version of that song. I simply love it. 5 stars my friend. I also like those old instruments. I got one similar looking guitar. A Hofner Genuine from the 50s. But actually I can't play so beautifully.
I cant begin to tell you how beautiful this is, and for personal reasons, why it was so important that I hear it tonight. Know that your music has lifted someone's spirit.
I have friends who own those guitars, and I don't really care for them. I find the neck shape uncomfortable and the LOUD sound a little harsh. But I have heard some wonderful music played on them.
Al was a magnificent performer. It's sad that his "minstrel show" presentation has made it "politcally incorrect" to appreciate him, though I suppose I can't really blame people for feeling offended by it.
I'd like to believe you were right, but people these days, at least Americans, are so hyper-sensitive about racial matters that I don't think knowing his story would temper the superficial, knee-jerk reaction to his presentation. Just look at how the press ululated about Rev. Jackson using "the N-word" in his remarks about Sen. Obama last week, as if that were a big deal. Being offended has become a fad and an industry.
That was beautiful. That song holds a special meaning to me & you did it the proper justice. :) It truly made me smile from ear to ear. I am honored that you posted this video in response to mine. Thank you. ♥
Love Al Jolson and love this version! :)

VERY nice, buddy. I would love to see you do this arrangement on one of those Gypsy Jazz axes, a Selmer-type Gitane. It would be a fit.

If people read about the history of this man, then I don't think that so many people would have been offended by him.

Thank you. I might record this one again--there's a couple of "flubs" that bother me.
