I believe that tasers and other e pistols are usually bright yellow for a warning, however, I think they have the same grip and weight as a normal pistol. If cops had rubber bullets, then (I don't want to sound like George Bush), but terrorism would be a high possibility.

Though this doesn't give the police officer a viable reason to shoot him, it does give him the right to taser him if the struggling man escapes. I think I have to side with the police on this one. I doubt very much that officer would intentionally kill him in front of all those people, that would be stupid. And it was new years day, Oscar Grant probably was being belligerent and causing trouble and deserved to be arrested - I can't find any sources that say why he was being arrested in the first place, and people felt sorry for Rodney King without any background knowledge on that case either.

I believe that tasers and other e pistols are usually bright yellow for a warning, however, I think they have the same grip and weight as a normal pistol. If cops had rubber bullets, then (I don't want to sound like George Bush), but terrorism would be a high possibility.

It's true that the government protecting the cop is indeed a disturbing thing, but think about it this way. Let's say we let him go to the crowds for an honest(?) mistake, and let him die. Would that be truly a good image for the government if they just abandoned one of their own? Other nations would begin to distrust the government and such. And like my earlier argument, some cops are bad but then again some demonstrators are bad too. The ones that hurt and kill are no better than the cop

You all act like this shooting was intentional but the cop's gun went off while he was trying to cuff the suspect. Sure he should have holstered his weapon first. But you all act like cops are the bad guys. Sure some are crooked but just a small fraction of them are. Cops are people too and there jobs can be very stressful and they can get nervous too then you have abunch of people yelling and swearing at them. If these kids would have just let them do there job then this wouldn't have happened.

While I do agree with your reasoning, there are several things I would like to point out. One is that the suspect was indeed struggling. Though this doesn't give the police officer a viable reason to shoot him, it does give him the right to taser him if the struggling man escapes. I understand that if you're a police officer then yes you should understand that gun on right taser on left. Nonetheless it was an honest mistake and the man had started a fight. I'm not a cop by the way

Another thing I would like to talk about is life itself. So what if those people who steal government money and turn it into profit get onto Times magazine, so what? nobody cares about them, and when somebody cares, it's because of a political scandal or something. While it is true that there is a lot of prejudice against blacks, latinos, and Indians, unless somebody does something we can't stop it. If YOU can do something, then we can make a difference. Perhaps we can have true peace quicker.
