  • That was a 360-degree panoramic photo taken standing in the middle of that crowd! With a 12000 mega pixel DSLR with high image stabilization and near-human-eye like dynamic range! CSI-crew knows what it's doing so STFU..... Bazinga!!

  • product placement

  • This is even better than autodesk's project photofly. :/

  • I hate how amidst all the pseudo-technical gibberish, constantly beeping computers and the "it's magic" approach to forensics, they fail to create interesting stories, captivating and likable characters and convincing tales of murder. I have nothing against technology in cop shows, but the least you could do is portray IT and its usage truthfully.

These shows could even be somewhat educational. Instead, they often offer preposterous, mystical and misleading explanations.

  • Where do they get those phones with billion pix cam? I want one.

  • Star Trek holodeck was less advanced than this shit. Hilarious.

  • This video is a bit pixelated. Maybe I should enhance.

  • @YXalr Go full screen, it will look clearer.

  • damn; this video was uploaded in 2008, and this episode was filmed even later then that. So, my 2010 smartphone with 5Mpixel camera and my 12Mpixel camera are actually total crap, because they got whole box of mobile phones with +60 Mpixel cameras... damn :(

  • wow, all that work just to make it even harder to find the right photo

  • Thats a high tech facility. Why are the using commands to zoom and rotate. Never heard of mouse? Is more realistic. U can't just type a three strike command and zoom in directly to someones wrist or someones earring or someone specific in a random crowd.

  • @ProtocolsMaster Well, you can't find someone's address in Visual Basic either, but that doesn't really stop them, huh? Whenever you see a reference to technology or forensic science in this show, just imagine that it's really magic and that these people are all sorcerers.

  • @ProtocolsMaster what are you on about, he's the IT guy, he would definitely find it faster to type in the rotational vectors and the x and y values for the four corners to zoom in into.

  • That iPhone then traveled to London 2010 and straight into 221B Baker Street.

  • also funny how he can easily rotate and everything, but as soon as he has to zoom in, he has to type a command (2:45). 8-)

  • Can somebody please tell how to turn off my computer's bleeps?

  • 1:40 Who took a picture of the guy's wrist? You can't zoom in that closely with that much detail from a picture from a smartphone...

  • Compiz Fusion had sex with Aero

  • ENHANCE FUCKING EVERYTHING AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRGHWARGHABL

  • At least this time the zooms and rotations are plausible.

  • hahahaha an Iphone with 360º camera?!

  • @ptreducto It's actually 200 phones with simple cameras.

  • Wow it's like they went Encarta Virtual Globe on the gym.

  • wtf

I watched the vb gui ip tracker thing and now this. :D

Can it get any more retarded than that?

And btw what for would you rotate 2-dimensional images? For teh lulz maybe?

  • Animating that user interface would probably take a ton of CPU power away from the actual photosynthing...

  • hey! how come my computer doesn't make those noises?

  • @Muvlonion because it does not belong in to a cartoon

  • @Muvlonion What do you mean? Didn't your computer come with a complimentary special effects department, too? I think you were ripped off. :(

  • So they confiscated all that stuff to do it?

That's kind of shit, isn't it?

  • For example, they zoom by going through new photos... Who the hell takes a photograph of a door twice from two different angles at a party?

Plus these weren't all taken at exactly the same time like these guys act like they were.

  • @osakanone By that same note, what kind of CSI lab has pristinely clean desks, shiny exterior lighting, glass walls and *legasp* the VERY latest in product placement...I mean, computer technology?

  • The show, obviously.

Photosynth is real but the "zoom stupidly far" crap I don't buy. For example they zoom in on details and pan in ways which are physically impossible towards the end of even this video.

  • >>who buys into this crap?

Apparently they're still breaking even so I imagine a lot of people leave their set-top-boxes on the same channel when they go out.

You'd be surprised how many people beg for the monday night slot on a popular channel and then claim to have eyeballs when 95% of their audience isn't actually watching.

  • Are you saying photosynth is fake or the show sucks?

Cuz i would agree about the show, but photosynth is completely real.

  • their computer's interface nice!!!

  • i love how they can zoom in unrealistically far, into reflections and the such

but they can't get somebody's face in a shadow

  • welcome to Hollywood

  • HOLY FUCKING CRAP

How come that computer makes an annoying sound everytime you do something?

  • loli wish just once csi would incorporate plausible technology to solve their crimes. who buys into this crap?

  • those are some hi def camera phones

  • hehehehe yeah

  • @riotmaker15 yeah, and a good thing too! otherwise that skull and crossbones wouldn't be clear from the photo that someone took from the stage during the speech

  • @riotmaker15 Nah, they just enhanced them!

  • @riotmaker15

    it's called GD (Godly definition)

  • Luv teh way teh guy says wat up

  • Why takes pictures of the crowd?

    Who did take those photos?

How can anyone take a photo over the stage, and why to the crowd?

  • because its a friggin tv show, thats why :D

  • when you wanna have a reminder of how many people were at an even you take a picture of the crowd...

  • Shameless product placement. I wouldn't have a problem - no doubt Photosynth will become as transparent a corporate trademark as Biro or Cellophane - except that it's Microsoft.

  • well photosynth is freeware beta community run from the universities , it just a matter of time till bill gates puts the price tag on the hard work the guys at the lab made themselves . unless one of them goes against the grind copyrights it for the lab group and keeps it public domain ,

  • Oh god. I hate how every show like this does computer sounds. Each time he clicks it makes that annoying sqeal sound... No software does that.

  • FINALLY OTHER PEOPLE UNDERSTAND!!!

Lol, it makes it more "technological", and more interesting to people who don't even use a computer, cause they think "wow, imagine if everyday people could do stuff like that"

  • No software eh? Then you haven't used a gaming console recently.

  • Well sure some software does it, but it is certainly NOT the same annoying sound for every action you take. That would get tiresome. It does just in these 3 minutes.

  • Well not to get in a big argument, but go check out the xbox dashboard. It does make those sounds for listerally every action.

  • Because a video game system is productivity software used in a professional environment right?

  • That wasn't the point of what we were discussing. He said no software (meaning at all).

  • Lol, yes! I hate it how Hollywood adds those annoying sounds to every, and any, action that is taken. Notice how they rarely use computer mice --they're always typing commands. It's like Hollywood is stuck in the 1980s in some respects (keyboard commands, the 'sounds' for every action), but tries to make everything else (ludicrous capabilities of computers, graphics) seem like it's extremely high-tech.

  • THANK YOU

This is why I don't watch crime shows on TV.

  • @MichaelGiardinello Professional nerds use keyboard commands, not mice. Mice are considered low-brow for commands.

  • @BlueCougar

    I hope that's sarcasm. =/

  • droping products in tv shows i thought was illegal

but i can give them the benifit of the doubt since photosynth looks so awesome

  • Umm... Either

    1. Why did everyone take a picture at the same time?

    or

    2. How did everyone just happen to take a picture at the same time.

  • I know. Especially, since the program doesn't need the photos to be taken at the same time. But in all of this episode's photosynth the class president has her arms in the same position. Special Defect, I guess.

  • i saw this episode last week while i was in mexico and i noticed that, as well as how theres a perfect panorama at some points without the people in the picture moving at all

  • And since the photos are taken from the ppl in there,

who would take a picture of someone exiting from the gym when there's another person on the stage.

  • Lol, there whole photosynth is going to be online!!! Wouldn't that be funny?

Anyways, Photosynth is going to be great technology. I'm gonna work on something to rip apart videos into bitmaps at certain intervals so i can use this technology

  • If you didn't understand my second paragraph its ok, it just tech stuff

  • Use videolan it is teh video dreamweaver

  • wow. B

  • It's amazing how everyone took pics at the same second! Skills ppl :P

  • Great program and its free...

Im trying to work on it for a wedding and its coming out great!

  • WHATA!?... from when is that episode... is that a palm centro... was it already on sell at the time?...was it even known to exist at the time?

  • Cool application.

  • Haha....

Exactly, build me a high school gym.

    - Umm.. OK

  • They're awesome at reconstructing the scene of the crime, but what technology are they using to keep track of the cell phones? I'd be very interested to know how they plan to deliver the cell phones back to their owners. "Here kids, come dig through this box and find your phone!"

  • Rofl you dont think that if they wanted, they could look up what service providers/numbers are given to who? They'd have their names, numbers, Big Brother is watching. =P (Yea sorry this is an old comment)

    ~Night

  • That's really amazing. Photosynth is really cool.
