I usually go straight from the meathook to the bolt lock variation. It's very easy and very effective. If ur grappling partner starts getting familiar then u can mix it up by using the asylum sweep.
@theGRANDharvest , There's a good many of them already. Dan Hardy, George Sotiropoulus, John Hathaway, and bunch of other guys. Chuck Liddel just started training with them quite recently.
Yeah, I'm a beginner and working rubber guard into my game and I love this move. I have really long legs and good flexibility and have been able to go straight into a wicked triangle. As I transition into the triangle just slightly angling to grab my ankle I can very quickly scoop that foot in and sit back before he knows what hit him. As soon as my partner sees the triangle coming they tend to pull away and that leaves for more space to hook my foot in.
can you explain how you end a triangle without the arm and with a gable grip because i tried it today in class but it didnt work. I had my gable grip around my shin but it was around his cheek and i couldnt get it. Can you explain please?
It has to do with your leg and squeezing power as well.Ham string muscles cut into the neck while squeezing your elbows together. Keep drilling...you'll get it.
Yes it works. We hold the shin in order to make the transition tight. You DO NOT have to pull the arm across the face and body (al la Gracie JJ). You can finish the triangle right there with the gable grip and hugging the neck and knee.
thanks for the response. So after i get the gable grip around his neck and my shin do i squeeze down or to the side my leg is around his neck>? does that make sense?
any advice for a tiny grappler in a world of gigantic mat gorillas? everybody just seems to lay on me and tries to wear me out. sometimes i can whip up from 1/2 gaurd or try one of the sweeps from mis. control(if i don't get stacked first). but i have trouble due to my short legs. I was wondering about any 10thP specific areas to focus and drill on, that might give me an edge agaist fat rednecks in rebel flag MMA Gear-
They don't. I play the other side and grab my right. However, Eddie teaches 90% of his students to play this side and get good on ONE side first, then move to the other. I find it easier to play the right side instead.
hey guys, great vid's ever since my bro got into the army hes always been teaching me some moves and fighting with me, now that hes home we wrestle alot more, hes a huge fan of BJJ and martial arts etc and we both love your vids ( i got more ways to make him tap ^^) keep up the amazing work =)
Hey Bro: we re did the video because of an over under head and arm control inconsistency (our bad). The video was REDONE and now labeled NO HANDS PASS (as directed by Eddie ;-) on our main site.
great vid guys,i'd like your advice on something.i'm now just about to start ju jitsu and there are 2 clubs that are close.one is traditional ju jitsu and the other is mma and train primarily with no gi.they are both on the same night and i just wondered which one you think would be more benificial as i've heard you guys say in the past that training with a gi can give you bad habbits, but the flip side would be that a traditional club would be more stuctured(i guess).which way would you go?
Traditional Jiu Jitsu as in Japanese JJ? That will focus on real world and self defense stuff. Traditional BJJ will focus primarily gi ground work. The gi doesn't give bad habits, it is just different when playing nogi. Try both classes out and see what you think. Come join out forum...there are several experienced BJJ/Judo/10pjj guys on there.
He isnt supposed to let go of everything to get the triangle at the end. as he grabs his shin he needs to slide it down and grab his ankle and pulling his right foot behind his left. the entire time he should have never let go
ye i thought this guy was really good, would have no problem if he did more vids with you guys, and its nice to see someone other than the regular guys getting forced to tap lol
Because this is a "couldn't get the zombie" scenario I believe. His arm was in the way of getting the left leg positioned correctly? Someone Correct me if I'm wrong
yeah i love the bolt choke it works especially well if just get your legs on your opponents head and just crush their jaw/ears, hurts way more they'll tap right away
thanks for the input. That is Tom's first crack at a video. The meat hook to triangle is SPECIFIC the the rubber guard system when you can't get the hand to the mat and get new york. If you know the system, this makes sense ;-)
@ummoli25 the gable only cinches it the arm should already be in there look at the vid again

This move is so high percentage for me, I think it just requires a certain amount of flexibility.

Hey Ari! I would just like to know, what is the difference between Rubber Guard and Mission Control? Thanks in advance, you guys are awesome!
AyzieBone 2 years ago
Rubber Guard is the type of guard while mission control is the starting position (wrist to ankle only) in the rubber guard series.
Submissions101 2 years ago
@ummoli25 Try angling your body for a tighter choke. Angle mean strangles.
KingCrimson1982 1 year ago
question, i noticed that you guys hold your shin instead of trying to get the arm infront and triangling. why do you guys do this? does it work?
ummoli25 3 years ago

Seems like you have to have great flexibility to get to mission control. Anyone know what kind of stretches to work on for that?
abes292 3 years ago
im sure an opponents arms are not gonna be still like this example

of course and it is better when they move! This is a tried and tested technique.

Thanks Ari and Tom great lesson. Although it was a little more entertaining watching Tom knock out the redneck LOL!

Hmm, I especially like the simple grabbing of the shin, actually.
Makes for a smooth transition in which you can go to a couple different things... Thanks!

Why? You should give it more reps/stretches and it will be more natural.

Why not just hit the triangle on the side where your leg is coming up? In other words, why switch the strangling leg?

that would be a reverse triangle... not exactly a high percentage move

A reverse triangle is what we call a bolt lock and works quite well but not a first choice move.

i'll have to try it out:)

first!(I am so sorry...)
Good video but 2 things
dude had a quiet voice. I had to turn my sound way up to hear him
This looks hard to do in a fast paced MMA match...Doesn't look like the highest percentage way of getting a triangle in the world.
CTUKeyes 3 years ago
