The pianist picked the "material" (i.e., meaningless, juvenile dirge) and interpreted it. I blame him entirely. It speaks volumes about his muscianship and integrity.
@straightshooterable You are quite to judge he's not trying to go anywhere with it, he's being different, he is highlighting one of the key features of modern jazz, its huge link into world music, so many influences and although there is little thematic development i rather enjoy the contrast of the original material with the syncopated rhythms and the rather middle eastern sound he makes with the self prepared piano!
@inatakan88 could be :P I'm not used to this kind of beat, so it seemed strange to me... I mean, he's on the tempo, but... beat is changing so constantly it hardly feels right if you're not used to it. makes sense?
@diogoriba dont worry , that's the effect they are trying to produce. The drummer improvising phrases with the piano , while the bass is the one whos keeping the beat.
Give the man a better audience please!!!!!!!!!!!! Those people are just sitting there, staring unhappily, not realizing what a great thing they're watching.
@matthiasdewilde92186 this is not a music tv show. it's a debate with several intellectuals/artists about what's on actualites, that take place every night. A musician comes at the end to close the show, which is very likable but after 1 hour of listening the debate, the crowd likes to stay soft that's all.

awesome- I was gonna try to do something like this, but it would have been a complete shame compared to what yaron herman did here. And I am now instantly a Yaron Herman fan. Friggin awesome.
I really love toxic the jazz version as well and there are some girls on x factor who audtioned and sang their version of toxic they were called miss.fitz
i don't know why people haven't thought of doing piano-harmonics more often, it's sweet.
pop music has become so much more one-dimensional than it used to be. i don't have much respect for brittany herself, but the people who wrote her music should be respected for their remarkable originality. listen to "my humps" after toxic, and you'll know what i mean.
@boxfactoryband It's a duo of swedish songwriter and producers nicknamed Bloodsky and Avant. Looking at their discography you can see a lot of good pop-hits (if such a thing exists). They have produced songs for Korean group as well.
From what I see, most of my cupid musical sins (toxic, Chocolate Love, BoA) have been written my these 2 guys. What a relief.
this is some great trio work, i love it. I heard the studio version but was disappointed it didn't include the awesome chord at 1:12 and the cascade @ 3:26. Very tight playing ;)
it's kind of that ... but they're maj... hes just using 7s and 9s with Eb & D to Cm he also makes Eb as Cm7 sometimes but 7s and 9s are the key to do that

Boring with a capital B!!!! Goes nowhere. Banal meanderings devoid of meaningful harmonic content and essential swing.
Whatever it is, it ain't jazz.
