  • @unohoo29

Thanks to you for leaving your comment! :) All the best to you!

  • Lady G.....I'm confused! You speak many languages & have many phone

numbers on your site. Also.... so much access to John's material.

Are you a real person or a number of different people serving this site.

    Just curios ? *(^_^)*

    Doug

  • @moniquewass

I clear your confusion in a private message! :-)

  • Thx for posting all these songs by John.

It's been a long time since he recorded some of my songs.(1977-1979)

He was just a youngster then..... but had the voice.

I'm catching up on his music.

    Again..... thx. *(^_^)*

    Doug

  • @moniquewass

You're more than welcome, and thanks again to you!!! :)

  • Again..... a nice posting Lady G.

  • The poem was written by THOMAS MOORE , ( 1779-1852 ) When it was first set to music....?

Once again , thank you for your good taste .

    Grand-pa MOORE , A.K.A. DeppityDawg

  • @duadau

If you search on google for "the minstrel boy" you can find the wikipedia page for it, it answers your questions in quite a precise way :) Hope it proves useful!

And thanks very much for watching and commenting on my video!!!

  • @duadau The song is Irish, but it was adotped by the soldiers during the American Civil War after they learned it from the Irish immigrants who enlisted. BTW The are tales that a long dead porfessor of surgery haunts the halls of the Colllege of Medicine at Dublin, singing this tume while his ghost roams the building.

  • @TheKilkennyGirl

Thanks you for watching my video, for the info on the song... and for the haunting story!! :-)

  • My son's been deployed 5x. Semper Fi, Sgt - well done!!

  • @andrewlubin19067

Blessings for you and your son for the job he does!

And thanks for watching and commenting on my video! :-)

  • @andrewlubin19067 I have always believed that every American should serve, you cannot value what has been given to you. Our freedom was bought and paid for by Americans who served, were wounded and some who died. I honor your son as I honor all brave men and women fight for our life. We need to make each American find out what it's like to stand tall at o dark 30 in predawn light. Airborne

  • @progressiverebel

Even if I'm not American I share the respect you bring to all the soldiers who bravely act and fought for what they believe in.

And I thank you for paying a visit to my video as well :-)

    Greetings from Turin!

  • This song is about the affects of war.We vilify each other, and cast aside our humanity in favor of brutality and hate. The Final Verse is about the end of war, and the return of our humanity.

The Minstrel Boy will return we pray

When we hear the news we all will cheer it,

The minstrel boy will return one day,

Torn perhaps in body, not in spirit.

Then may he play on his harp in peace,

In a world such as heaven intended,

For all the bitterness of man must cease,

And ev'ry battle must be ended.

  • @elmicogrande8808

Thanks for watching, and for your comment!

  • @elmicogrande8808 - It's a lovely song. One of my favorites. One thing though. The last verse you mentioned was added in the US at the time of our civil war. I suppose that's alright though. It gained a lot of it's popularity from Irishmen who fought during the Civil War.

  • Thumbs up if Star Trek brought you here!

  • @ryan87401

Thanks a lot for watching and for your comment! I don't understand what's about Star Trek, anyway if you say Thumbs Up I think you enjoyed the song!

BRAVA. POLLICE SU --ORLANDO-
