Yes when you click buy on the app store on you iphone or ipod touch then it goes to your home screen and makes an icon!

No you shouldn't need wifi unless they are an application like AIM for example (an instant messaging app) where u do need to be connect to wifi for it to work

If you are on an iphone then u can be connected via cellular too.
