I think you are using a similiar but not related Nelder-Mead Method sometimes called Downhill Simplex Method. No, I'm not solving linear programming problems. I'm solving unconstrained nonlinear optimization problems. I do stochastic gradient descent with a single point, unrelated to the simplex used by Nelder-Mead. And I don't know why anyone would refer to Commander Zarbod as a mere "Zarbod the Select".
