Well, the same say I about greeks, coming later from the islands to "Epirus" (a word, which means "continent" in greek, hence used by people living in islands for the coastal line in front of them). Well, the same say I about greeks, coming later from the islands to "Epirus" (a word, which means "continent" in greek, hence used by people living in islands for the coastal line in front of them). As for Arvanites, two things: first they were not greeks, because as your said, there were no albs, in the modern meaning but neither there were greeks in the modern meaning of the word! Second, it is known how Greece dealt in the last 200 years with all minorities living there (albs,macedon, turks)

The last one fact is that a big part of Arvanites are really concerned with the fact that maybe they could have create another state in Greece, where they could create their identity and preserve their roots and history! There are albanians living in south Italy from the death of Scanderbeg there, not assimilated, speaking old albanian and calling Albania their homeland after 500 years! Nobody in Italy tries to call them "italians" as Greece does with Arvanites! I know the reason!

The Arvanites share the same origin with the Albanians, but they are not the same. You cannot say Arvanites= Albanians. For over 500 years now both groups have taken seperate ways.
Let the Arvanites be what they want to be, in the end none is pure in blood, many albanians wont have albanian origins either, still they feel albanian thus thats what they are.

It's amazing how greeks continue to this day to identify nationality with religion. The Arvanite are Albanian. Greek money cannot buy Albanian History. Because chams are muslim you call them Albanian. Since the Arvanites are C. Orthodox you call them greek.
