  • I thought that platies and guppies cannot interbreed. I think it was just platies with swordtails. Mollies and guppies, I dont think its possible.

  • @CamCool10 Yea but they have eggs inside

  • Guppies are platys give birth to live young...

  • So this is from a guppy? COOL!!!!

  • 5/5

  • That is very interesting!!!!

  • whats that song?

  • what did they look like?

  • do you have any picsor videos of the babies yet? I have guppies and platys in my community so would be intrigued as to what a cross would look like

  • Unfortunately the few babies that remained died, some were deformed and the rest did not last past a couple of months. I want to put my platies and some guppies together in one tank again and see if I can get them to breed again.

  • my fries were fine but some died but the rest was ok wen they were atleast 6 or 7 weeks old the fry were a bit big and there colour was showing and plus it looked different it looked like a molllie coz it had a mollie tail and it had a guppy body but it was spotted and some more was different and i had about 25 fry i would of had 37 but 12 died and 4 of my hybrid fishes came out same as the fry guppy mother but it had a yellow body with only a few spot i hope u will be succesful in every matin

  • Thanks :D so far I've been very successful with breeding guppies, I have a whole bunch of them now in 3 different tanks :P

  • iv been succesful with breeding guppies 2

  • pxiceman is when 2 different livebearer breed and the female is pregnant it only has a month for the eggs to be fertilized and develop but u see the eggs are from the mum that is a different breed and the dad is a different breed in the egg is alway gonna hav a bit trouble developing into a live fry some are turn out ok some dont coz it is a cross that wat happend to mine i had a guppy cross to a spotted mollie and the the fry were fine some died sorry i hav to write another one

  • I have a tank with guppies and platy. The guppie is pregnant. I noticed a white ball floating at the top of the tank, so I thought she might be giving birth. I put her in the breeding net and a few minutes later there was another white ball floating at the top of the tank. I am not sure what it is. Do you have any idea? Is is a undeveloped egg?

  • Could be. Both guppies and platies are live bearers, so if they give birth to eggs then they are most certainly undeveloped eggs of some sort.

  • guppies nd platys giv birth 2 live young not eggs ??

  • You're right, what happened here was probably a baby that did not develop correctly. I've seen it happen with my other guppy mommies as well.

  • cool. Guppies/platies cross? Don't think so...

  • Swear to god :D although in this case it was obviously not very successful :P

  • WHERE ARE PICS OF THE BABIES

  • Yeah I'll have to record some vids of the babies and post soon to show :D
