@mattskywalker18 Sammo is barely seen here, is the fat guy in the floor at 0:38 with a white shirt. But search for his videos and see him in movement. :-)
@mattskywalker18 yuen biao is the one in black shirt, the one which jumped through the window.. and yuen hwa is the smoking one.. the can do all this as they learnt all this from the opera school XD
Obviously Jackie wasn't the first guy to run around jumping across buildings and clearing obstacles but he was clearly the best. this is a guy that jumped off a cliff and landed on top of a hot air balloon
francia? david bell? el parkour que quede muy claro fue creado por este señor.incluso jackie chan inspiro a muchos que hoy son considerados los mejores.
David belle basically took jackie chans style of movements and made a name. Jackie chan was inspired by physical actors like buster keaton etc but jc was the one who took the true form of parkour which Belle just expanded on to make modern parkour.
David Belle gave parkour a name, made it a real method of training with a philosophy behind it.. But no one invented the MOVEMENTS in parkour. They've always been there and the human being have used it for a long time
Hang on hang on, so Jackie Chan was the first person to do parkour? Or were the french just the people who made it into a disipline? I'm confused, I'm not sure who to believe. Can someone please tell me who created parkour. I'm really interested in knowing who the actual founder is.
@pootustangus no one was the first, parkour has always been about it is the art of movement.... it has become recognised through different routes i belive the french david belle sabastian faucan really started it off, jackie chan is just soo talented that he can put it into his martial art
@RevurbRecords I don't really care who the founder is anymore. I'm sick of hearing the stupid arguments about who founded it first and about how parkour and freerunning are completely different arts. I think parkour and freerunning are just pure, raw movement expressed however you want. Through tricks or speed or fluidity. Just self expression through movement.
Thankyou for your opinion:) I found it very interesting.
Great stuff, and there's a lot more he's done that you didn't show. (eg: the train station scene in "Mr. Nice Guy", or the gate-climb in "Operation Condor", etc, etc.) Thanks for posting.
the original badass. i think he has broken most of the bones in his body at least once from doing all his own stunts, but that just makes him even more kickass
Parkour/freerunning was influenced mainly by Georges Hérbert's methode naturelle both in It's method of training and It's philosophy, aswell as David Belle's father Raymond Belle experiences. However, the philosophy of parkour is also deeply inspired by Bruce Lee's Lee's Jeet Kune Do. For instance, parkour, as JKD, it is not a complete system, or just a collection of movements/techniques, or just physical something physical. With other words, jackie didn't invent it.
Leave it to the white man to take an Asian thing, rename it, and try to market it as something they created. Like Bruce Lee's "Jeet Kune Do". Now they call it "MMA". I guess this way they don't have to pay the true inventors any money. And continue to leave behind their "stolen legacy".
@Wardfolio As far as I know Jeet Kune Do is different from MMA. And you may be right but there no racism here, it's just that whoever comes up with a name for a product, can market it.
lol i love how its all real and not cg and yet cg is still more eye catching... sigh... still amazing thought stupid ppl lost in cg land will never know the awesomeness.
i think jackie chan is the true inventor of parkour. i admire jackie chan the same i admire david belle. i dont know wich one is better, but i know that because of them i train everyday
@rammah83 no one 'invented' parkour, parkour is the art of movement from A to B as fast and efficiently as possible, it's been around since man could walk and run as a method of catching or escaping a situation :D

Jackie is a great stuntman, and yes, we traceurs would be lying if said this guy didnt inspire our discipline. But, hes not even close of being the creator. Why? Jackie Chan is just amazing.
You're wrong, jackie chan is doing all he's stunt for real, without helplines etc... i've readed alot about him.. If he had helplines then wouldnt he've broken nearly every single bones in his body =)
For me Jackie Chan invented the "art of movement" called nowdays "parkour" or "free running"... David Belle just developped it as a sport. But just look at the movements Jackie is doing on all of his old films, they are exactly the same as the movements traceurs use...

Either way, it's a great highlight vid.
