If you watch the broadcast Jim Ross says "folks we have real problems here" and then they show an interview of him from earlier and you don't hear Jerry Lawler talk for awhile because Lawler was in the ring with Owen. This live boradcast didn't catch it and McMahon destroyed all videotaped eveidence of it even confiscating one camera from a fan that captured it

If you look there's videos on Youtube showing the exact time in the show when it happened and it happens when Jim Ross is talking about the next match with a graphic showing the Godfather and Owen Hart.

My Father has the video...............I saw it. He was recording the Jumbo-Tron, and it was dark in the areana. He had night vision on to make things a little better. I've seen video of the accident. Well hard to see since it was fast but it was the accident. Of course Youtube took it off. It was made by a fan in the stands.
There is a video of his death. During the PPV it was edited like usual (where they replace the footage like on SD and Raw) but it was caught on tape. The tape was posted on the internet but quickly removed by WWE. The copy tape (to show what happened from camera angles) was sent to the Hart family and the original was kept by WWE and is locked up hidden from everyone.

I think they were supposed to cut to him as he was lowering down to the ring but as he was trying to get comfortable in the harness, he knocked the quick release catch and fell. :( I don't think he was in the right position for them to be filming him when the accident happened. THERE IS NO FOOTAGE OF THE FALL! it was 1999. no camera phones no really small cameras, or anything like that..if there is footage of the fall WWE most likly has it locked up somewhere like the droz accident.

The camcorders back then where big ass shoulder-mount ones. by the time you actually get the thing on your shoulder owen would be on the stretcher already. and thats assuming wwe even lets you bring in a camcorder, and since i have a ticket for a wwe event i'm going to and it says "No cameras" I would say no.

May 23 is my birthday, I started watching wrestling when I was 3 and I grew up watching this guy. I turned 6 on the same day he died. He was one of my favorite wrestlers, and I cried and cried and couldn't stop.

@jayNicks10 there is a video tape of the fall but the WWF decided not to release it on the DVD version of over the edge. nobody outside of the WWF has it. but you are right you can get arrested for posting it on the internet. the only ones who can post it are the legal owners of the video. who i assume is vince mcmahon. maybe one day he'll post it himself and we'll finally see what happened.

There is a video of his death. During the PPV it was edited like usual (where they replace the footage like on SD and Raw) but it was caught on tape. The tape was posted on the internet but quickly removed by WWE. The copy tape (to show what happened from camera angles) was sent to the Hart family and the original was kept by WWE and is locked up hidden from everyone.

The fall was never shown anywhere. I have the live PPV taped and when it happened they showed shots of the crowd and then a vignette. His actual fall has never been on any air waves.

No, the crowd believed that the harness was made to lower tools for carpenters, he was supposed to stop a few foot of the ring and press a quick realease button and land face first for comedic affect, but sadly he trigger it by accident while he was up there, RIP

Lets see, no true explaination to what happened after all of this time. Vince, and the manufacture of the harness paid off the Harts big time. Gotta agree with that crazy bastard Billy Jack Haynes that Vince McMahon knew something was gonna happen.

@supcraig1 The cameras weren't on him because they were showing a VT. I think they were supposed to cut to him as he was lowering down to the ring but as he was trying to get comfortable in the harness, he knocked the quick release catch and fell. :( I don't think he was in the right position for them to be filming him when the accident happened. Poor guy.

seems like as if the hart family was always targeted by mcmahon's empire, well not seeems like it but was rather. i remember watching this ppv. they cut away from owen as the rope snapped. i was 8 years old and didnt get what was happening. then j.r. says something like "folks, this isnt kayfabe. this isnt part of your scheduled entertainment tonght. this is not a 'storyline' if you will. owen hart is hurt" and then i'm like oh, shit. i'll never forget the way i felt right then.
