I think Kurt decided to cover a song it is because her wanted all of his fans to go and look up the band - exposing different and more obscure music to the pop mainstream was sort of his thing. He wasn't anti-pop, he actually loved pop, but he felt that there were a lot of ignored bands. If he was against anything it was probably 70's hard rock - although he seemed to have nothing but praise for New Wave and Punk.
Seems most of the comments here are relating to Nirvana... So let's mix it up a bit. Phoenix by The Prodigy, off Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned is the best version. ;)
Ah these creative brilliance of Shocking Blue. What a great band they were. Nervanas cover was ok. They true magician is they ones who wrote this songs.. shocking Blue
I used to have shocked when I'd hear original versions of songs Nirvana covered. After hearing this, I can safely assume no Nirvana cover is remotely like the original.
Great song. Cobain and Nirvana always had a good eye for under-appreciated songs. Son of a Gun by the Vaselines and Here She Comes Now by the Velvet Underground are other examples of this.
first time I hear the original version of love buzz, but when I'm honest, I like the nirvana version more than this one, but it's way different so I can't judge this original song, normally I like the original songs more than the covers although the bands who cover it are truly great to make it better or just as good as the original one.
This is awesome, but I prefer the lyrics "feel my love buzz" in Nirvana's version, rather than "hear my love buzz." in this original. In the cover, the love "buzz" was an intoxicating feeling. In this, it is more of a noise. I hope that makes sense lol.
@TheLoui1995 hey... how can nirvana's version be the original if they recorded kind of 20 years after Shcking Blue??? It's a composition by Robbie van Leeuwen...
@SoDamnBionic Diferent and better. Once Kurt covered your song, your band will be forgotten and the song no more will be yours, it will be a Nirvana song :p
@renzomartinsgu hahah it's true, but the song was been made by other people and the song fits with the compositor and with nobody else. nirvana made a great job and kurt always take unknow songs to cover
This version is interesting, but Nirvana totally killed it on their cover. This is a song that lends itself to being played as fast and loud as possible.
I love this melody ... Cover Nirvana and Prodigy also gives the rock, I knew this piece a few years but only recently heard the original. The team from Holland ... All clear :-)
This is almost psychedelic, they could have played Woodstock. I prefer Nirvana’s version because I like their style of music more, but I can tell why Krist Novoselic chose this song...next to the European connection.
probably the best post on Youtube. I don't think you can buy this album.
