I think Kurt decided to cover a song it is because her wanted all of his fans to go and look up the band - exposing different and more obscure music to the pop mainstream was sort of his thing. He wasn't anti-pop, he actually loved pop, but he felt that there were a lot of ignored bands. If he was against anything it was probably 70's hard rock - although he seemed to have nothing but praise for New Wave and Punk.

This is awesome, but I prefer the lyrics "feel my love buzz" in Nirvana's version, rather than "hear my love buzz." in this original. In the cover, the love "buzz" was an intoxicating feeling. In this, it is more of a noise. I hope that makes sense lol.
