  • Andy, you rock!!You do your job as well as anyone could.I do not like the Youtube bitches.

  • Do you need a tube amp do get a good sound out of these screamers?

  • PGS makes everything they demo sound like shit!

  • @spicecrop

    you sound like shit :)

  • I have one. Is so flexible that If u can´t get a great sound out of it, u better give up. Is this good! And I have OCDs, and a lot of other stuff. Is my favourite box.

  • I can hear it's solid state, from miles away

  • Decent pedal, but I find that bright blue light annoying.

It blinds me every time I try to change the settings.

  • does anyone else wiht this pedal get feedback when they have the gain past halfway and their amp at gigging/band practice volume??

  • @deadheadshaman actually thats a question that I am looking for an answer for, I have a TS reissue and jetter GS red and am looking at these Mi pedals, they seem to be at a good price and sound good but I play at jamming /low gigging levels and my current pedals are getting soggy, do you find that this Mi feeds back at mid volume, regards from Dublin

  • This or a voodoo labs sparkledrive?

  • Is that regular John??

  • wich one have the most volume level? crunch box or this one?

  • Is this pedal good for getting a dual rectifier distortion tone or is there another pedal which comes closer to the recto tone?

  • Time to make a vid of V4 ;)

  • I got the tubezone v4, is there much difference between this one and the v4 soundwise?

  • I've owned this model or years and only recently discovered that it's a completely different sounding pedal when you power it with 16V as apposed to 9V! I emailed the maker and he said that because it has the capacity for 25V it breathes and becomes less muddy when u feed it the right power. He also said there isn't a huge different between powering it with 16V as apposed to 25V.

  • these reviews are really good, but why doesn't he mention the mic being used? that makes also for the tone

  • This or Crunch Box ?

  • man, this pedal has more balls than those metal distortion pedals, and it's an overdrive

    how do you do it?

  • @wingerwanger there crazy pedals really wide aray of tones n heavy too, im in a thrash band n using this with a 1959 marshall

  • THIN LIZZY!

  • I dig this pedal but the ones at Guitar Center do not have these 6 cool chrome knobs. Two black slot knobs and 4 tiny little thumb knobs. This one is major cool, it's also $200, I might consider it if it had the cool chrome knobies.

  • @CarvinTone Thats the latest release. The big knobs was the previous model.

  • With some reverb, echo, and Phase shift it sounds like it could nail the early crispy brown sound

  • this really is a good pedal i've 1 for several years now never a problem with it . sounds killer with my deans n 1959 marshall. it'll do the hi gain stuff well to which i like.

  • SHINEY?! Me like SHINEY!!!

  • Using a Gibson Les Paul studio through a Vox Night Train, I'm looking for Hi-Gain but clear tones but can still roll back to a slightly boosted clean tone, should I get this or the Blackstar Ht-Dual?

  • I just got one of these today along with a prototype MI Audio Megalith Gamma head. These things rock!

  • Getting one of these guys tomorrow. Any favourite settings?

  • If this works for Brett Garsed, it sure as hell works for me....

  • Gotta say, i own this pedal and playing a Godin LG Signature through this into a Dr. Z Maz 38 gives me the most amazing tone ever.. I never turn it off!

I've tried the pedal through peavey amps, orange amps and fenders and it never fails me. it DOES, however, require you to spend a lot of time finding your specific sweet spot.. The interior tone pot is amazing too!

    LOVE This pedal!

  • is it a true bypass pedal?

  • i'm getting this one.!!!

  • I had this pedal - it is indeed very flexible. Bat it has two issues:

    1. quality control is not tight enough - friend of mine bought one several months earlier and it was considerably brighter than mine.

    2. ALL controls are interdependent - finding sweet spot on this thing can drive you crazy - do not buy it unless you are a compulsive tweaker.

  • @woland99 Nothing wrong with the pedal at all. If yours isn't as bright, play with the internal tone control.

  • Few of these "tube" pedals have the splattery overdriven compression of an actual tube, they just give you massive amounts of gain and saturated distortion.

  • loving the QOTSA at the beginning!!!

  • Hey guys, i have a question. i have had 2 distortion pedals for some time now, and i cant get either of them to work.... i have no clue how to get these things to work. they both came with a batery, niether of them worked.. i am pluging them in corect but they wont turn on (the light wont go on) and i cant figure it out... ive tried charging it with a 9v charge chord and that didnt work either... im so lost please help D:

    thanks!

  • Have you readed the manual?

If you don't have them, you can serely find them by searching on Google

If you make sure to respect all the directions in the manual, and it stills don't work, there's the dummy (no offence, it happens to anybody) errors: is your guitar volume at max? If you plug your guitar dirctly in your amp, does it work?

If that fails, last solution is to get your pedals repaired. But, it's pretty strange both pedals would be broken...

  • The MkIV is far better. If you get the chance pick it up instead. i love mine.

  • it sounds awesome thru any high gain amp on the clean channel

  • i fucking love this pedal. i bought it a few weeks ago and it can do anything. Koss, Clapton, Slash, Metal, McTallica, FUCKING ANYTHING. i love it. thankyou MI Audio

  • ha! gotta love that a small pedal making company from melbourne australia has taken the world by storm.

this is a wicked pedal btw. love it, recommend you buy it!

  • @Breyley They're not from Melbourne. They're From Sydney.

  • I'd buy one but it's not shiny enough.

  • shiny?

  • (hes being sarcastic)

  • wow.. sounds great

  • Fawk... Didn't mean to rate. Can't cancel it again right? ;:P Very nice review though, ^^

  • lovin the queens riff at the start!

  • yeah always a lot of qotsa loving there! 5 stars!

  • I had this pedal. It's most versality drive i've seen. Clean boost, boost drive chanel, can sounds like old Marshall or like Recto. But it isn't simple, not "plug and play".

  • what do you mean not plug and play?

  • I know what he means. ive had a mk 4 for 3 months and i still cant figure it out.

  • it's not that easy to set up straight away

  • Would this Pedal help alter the sound of a Solid State Amp with Distortion, by adding overtones or more bite etc.?

  • yea it would, probably dont need to use it with distortion tho.

  • hey i need to know if this thing can do "rage against the machine"?? and other heavier stuff? if anyone owns this pedal, let me know its possibilities. thanks

  • erm, can't you hear him playing rage at the end?

  • plus rages tone aint that heavey,

  • yo thing is heavy

  • Is this a pedal a preamp also? Can I connect it before a power amp?

  • no it isn't.

  • can this get mesa recto sounds and marshall sounds also?

  • Can this do heavy metal?

  • Absolutley. Look up MI Audio's website, and listen to the "tight" sample. Wow! This thing sounds MEAN in real life. Tough sounding.

  • To me, this pedal sounds simular to my BOSS Blues Driver into my Marshall amp. Maybe a little tighter tone. Except for the last demo setting, cool sound!

  • wow, i wish i had a job like andy's haha

  • Queens of the stone age eh.

  • It's killing me - what's the name of the Queens tune?

  • Queens of the Stone Age WOO!

    It's regular john

  • Who are you girl? Who are you boy? Bet i know what your up too.

  • Nice demo as always Andy! But I found a missing spot here.. You made it sound sooo mondern and heavy although this pedal has lots of other sides.. For example my favourite side of the TZ is that classic, creamy, smooth, wonderful overdriven tone than I couldn't find in this video.. With all the respect. Don't take me wrong. I'm a BIG fan! Congrats for your work again! ;-)

  • 'here's a true bypass signal'

does it really have a true bypass?

  • Yes, MI Audio pedals are true bypass (excluding the Boost N' Buff) Thanks,

    PGS

  • best looking stompbox ever! for me...

  • so i'm kinda stuck here, i hope you can help me decide. i've have a kelley moded ts9 and while it sounded great in front of the clean channel of my mesa mark iv, i wanted it to push the lead channel but it ended up to saturated and gave too much high mid "hair" & mush to the notes. so the blue seems like a good choice with all the tone control options, but then i came across this. and this seems more appealing because of the high gain but i was worried that it might over saturate my amp. help?

  • I suppose that's going to be up to you in the end. I have heard of folks using the tz for that reason, but many aren't too geeked about the tz in the lower gain settings. To each thier own, I guess. The BBD has been great for driving my amp and the tone controls take some time but once you've got them down...you've got them. The BBD deluxe offers less gain than a tubescreamer at the lower settings, so that may be a good place to start. I really love mine...sorry, I'm wordy. Good Luck

  • Check out Brett Garsed's playing... he use a TZ in a more subtle way... very cool pedal in lower gain settings too!

  • I've got one running onto my plexi 50.. and I can tell this one helluva versatile pedal!! from a really flexible clean boost (treble mid or bass) right through to all out gainblitz mayhem!! (if yer into that) ..I play mainly 70s southern rock and this badboy can do it all!! I can have a really tight bottom end or dial in some sag if I want to emulate the jtm45 style amp.. ** HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

  • That's why I couldn't recognize it. It's probably off their first album right?

*Talking about QOTSA riff in the beginning. You shoulda did one offa Songs for the Deaf.

  • Screw SFTD! It's all about the FIRST record!

  • Getting ready for the reissue? Hear it's dropping Nov. 10th. ^6^

  • does anyone know how to create a pedal by themeselves, you know like the computer, the switch, and fuc*in everything else?

  • "im playing on a g&l legacy...into a 65 amp solo..."

    great demos!

  • It's a 65 amps SOHO. :)

I liked the QOTSA riff in the beginning

  • Whats SOHO stand for???

  • Soho is an area in the centre of the West End of London, England, in the City of Westminster. I'm assuming that 65 Amps named it's amps SOHO and LONDON to insinuate that they have a "British" flavor or circuit design.

  • doesnt sound much like an overdriven amp though

  • should i git this or the blue boy deluxe?

  • I have the blue boy, if you're looking to push your amp like you would with a tube screamer the bb is a good choice...if you are looking for an overall good overdrive sound I would go with the TZ...Good Luck.

  • Nice Rage riff there. Can't say I cared for the tone of the pedal, though.

  • damn I need that pedal!

  • I actually enjoyed the sound. The problem is 'boutique' pedal makers want $200 or more for $20 in parts. If you're good you could knock out a few of these a day easily.

  • right but you don't have to manufacture the pedal, take the time out of your day to do it, label it, order parts (in bulk) which happens to get quite expensive. When all is said and done, most pedal builders are barely breaking even. The expenses pile up. Sure anyone can pound out a few pedals on $20 worth of parts, but try running a full pedal business... it's not cheap. Thats the reason why they charge what they charge.

  • and because they can. This is a stale argument though

  • I have this monster!

  • This thing is my go-to lead pedal. I LOVE THIS! It's great! (i'm using it on the "So What" and "Giant Steps" videos)

  • I can see your hand playing reflected in the pedal hehe

  • same here. finally realized i dont really want it!

  • Not my style either but this is the best Tube Zone demo on Youtube!

  • ProGuitarShopDemos are hands down the best deoms at Youtube

  • This is the demo I've been waiting for!
