These guys played Belfast in the mid eighties and were amazin. Not too many bands came to us because of the violent times but that didn't bother these dudes. cool as. great song.
The GREATEST dong of the 80's! As big and wide as the Heartland. Universal Cow Punk. Massive. Rebellious and Utilitarian. Ballsy. Urgent. Sublime. Taps the Zeitgeist. Reverend Jim, send more Kool-Aid!
Great footage of a fantastic band at the very top of its game. Combine the urgency and aggression of good punk with the melodicism of good country, throw in a heaping helping of distrust of authority from the 60's, and you've got a real taste of what the Long Ryders are all about.
wow... still love this stuff. Miss hanging out with these guys back in the day. Hope all is well with all. They need to do a US reunion tour.. how about it guys?
check out Rockin at the Roxy , came across a live vid in usa 86 , plus sid griffin singing acoustic .. the wreck of the 809? ..yup they mean what they say
I saw the band in 84 at the gallery in manchester and the following year at manchester international, they reformed for a farewell show about 3 years ago and i saw the gig at The Fleece in Bristol,They were as good as they were back in the day.
Yes, I saw the Long Ryders at the Fleece & Firkin in 2004 and they were as good as when I saw them back at the Bristol Studio (now the Academy) in 1987.
Check out their latest CD 'State of our Reunion - Live 2004' which features some tracks recorded at the Fleece (plus other UK venues on that tour).
Man does this one take me back. starry nights gathered around a fire, this cranked up, the smell of Marlboros, Miller Light, cannabis, burning rubber (tires in the fire) and perfume.
Yes, this is it! fuck every other piss poor talentless fucking wannabee, AAAARRRRRGGGHH! I want new music to actually be good, like this stand out gem was in its day! Is that too much too ask, well, is it? Razor fucking Shite, and Ruby Ruby fucking Ruby wanks, you are not fit to even look at a musical instrument, nevermind have the audacity to pick one up and attempt to play it. Please bring back good MUSIC, its not too much to ask is it. Long Ryders, I salute you!
I laughed outloud when I read your this, Classic!!
I totally agree, was lucky enough to see The Long Ryders in Bristol just after Looking for Lewis and Clarke came out. They were superb and had high fives with all the band as they left the stage.
The Long Ryders never got the respect that they deserved. They were great! I love the sideburns on this one...must be cloned from mr Stills in the Buffalo Springfield clip "For What its..."
We've just finished recording it on our demo... We're an italian cover band and we love to play 80s US independent rock songs (X, Buffalo Tom, Gun Club...) Great song, thanks for the video
Great Great song. I saw the band Slobberbone cover this song one night while opening up for Cheap Trick in 2002 or 2003 in Laredo Texas. It was an awesome surprise!
Actually jumped on stage and played this song with them with my little brother in attendance with camera at Maxwell's one drunken cold Winter night in 1984. WOW the memories. Very very solid guys and they were so good too
this used to be a real favourite at the Fishes in Kingston. obscenely loud , of course !

genuinely great band live - given how crap music was in the late 80s they should have been big
mickmorris1 5 years ago
This should have been a hit, song went on about
30 seconds to long, and they should have taken
out the corny "louie louie lou". Sid has another band and I cant recall it's name. He's done some writing
too.
