  • The flame off of a burning toothpick works just as well.

  • I notice when I hold a flame to an ionizer system that the flame arcs and seems to be pulled by the arc kind of, whereas butane without the flame won't. I wonder if there is a way to combine this with gas combustion somehow (accelerant fed turbine or some crap??) to make a kind of "pyroclastic beam". Almost like the pyroclastic flows off of volcanoes, electrocuting fiery clouds..

  • we have those. Not the batteries themselves, but with enough capacitors, inverters, and transformers anything can be accomplished... that requires high voltages.

  • O this thing. More like a EM wave generator than an actual weapon. Do a search on nuclear material detection, the waves are used to pin point sources of radiation. Granted though, enough electricity in and a budget to match, and you'll have a formidable EM laser.

  • this is old , like 5 years old

  • not really fiction...medusa is a directed energy weapon project in development. it shares some problems with the laser, but also has some advantages which are clear even for someone non-scientific.

  • Actually a laser is part of the weapon-system. As well microwaves and sub-atomic-particles.

  • Great post, got any more devices?

  • Fiction

  • yet
