Actually, using a double-sided saber or two sabers can inhibit a fighter instead of help. It's all about your style and ability.

To better explain, I quote Kratos Aurion of Tales of Symphonia:

"Using two blades is difficult because you wield the swords in ways they were not designed to be used."

Put another way, your arms don't naturally move in opposite directions. It's hard to be fluid using two weapons at the same time while remaining unpredictable. It all comes down to how good you are.

Late reply, I know.. by about 8 moths :P But anyways, I'd personally think 2 blades is harder to use than a double-bladed weapon. Yeah it's still harder to use than 1 single blade, but I personally would find it easier with a double-blade than duals

question to star wars fans/nerds - What are the advantages of using a single lightsaber over a double one? - from the examples of the above guy and darth maul (being able to fight 2 jedis at a time) looks like a double edge is better than a single edge.

it all depends on fighting style, some people just rather use 1 blade, some fight better with 2

When using a double lightsaber you have a lot less flexibility, most of your attacks would have to be sweeping strokes from the side...Think of a guy with a quarterstaff fighting a guy with a club.

Brandon passes well for a green saberist (their proficiency is the force, blue is for saber masters)

His mannerisims coupled with the choreography really made it seem like he had a force like intuition about the battle and how each blow would land even before it would hit. And big props to Ryan who also rocked and is always the big sport who is willing to die.

the colour of the saber never had anything to do with a Jedi's proficiency in combat. the colour is just their personal preference. what you're thinking of is just the default colour for a certain class of Jedi

Well if you want to count this as a viable reference, In star wars knights of the old republic 1&2, they do say what i said about lightsabers.

i've played and beaten both. dorak said that no jedi is restricted to a certain colour. he said that typically, blue is for saberists, green for force users, and yellow for skill-using jedi. like you said.

however, typically would mean often, but not always. most Jedi might choose to switch their blade colour to something that they like/feel is easier to concentrate with (maybe they feel 1 colour is too bright, for example)

Nope, Ryan's the only one who gets killed in any of them- the best he ever did was lop off an arm before getting cut in half, although Dorkman did get stabbed in the first one- couldn't really call it a duel.

Anyways, away from that- 3 videos, 3 successes.

One weird thing I noticed, in every one of his videos, Ryan seems to lose the Lightsabre fight.

In this, he gets decapitated.

In RvB he gets stabbed through the chest.

And in his alternate ending to Star Wars: Episode 2 he gets stabbed in the back.

Weird.
